C11 A Great Massacre

Everyone approaches life with a different attitude. The concept of karma suggests that you reap what you sow.

Ao Yuan was raised on Shu Mountain, where his mentor held a prestigious position. As a result, he grew up learning nothing but arrogance and disdain for others.

In an era of peace, when Earth's resources were scarce, the emergence of an Evolver was unthinkable. At that time, Ao Yuan, a late-stage Qi Refining cultivator, was revered as a Great Expert by all mortals, and he wielded his power without restraint.

He had once brutally murdered several girls who were visiting Shu Mountain and buried their bodies at its base. Despite multiple police investigations, he managed to deceive them each time, and the cases were eventually dropped.

Today, however, after descending from the mountain, Ao Yuan expected to effortlessly acquire a Strange Treasure and significantly advance his cultivation. Instead, he faced repeated frustrations, which infuriated him.

"Curse that pest! If I catch you outside the village, I'll torture you to death!" he muttered darkly as he left Chen Min's house. An itch began to trouble him, but he was too preoccupied with his earlier humiliation to pay it much attention, simply scratching incessantly.

The itching soon became unbearable, spreading across his entire body and intensifying. He scratched until his skin bled, yet there was no relief.

Realizing something was amiss, he noticed that two other Shu Mountain disciples, Ao Feng and Ao Yu, were exhibiting the same symptoms, frantically scratching themselves.

"Damn it! We've fallen for that wretched woman's trick!" Ao Yuan realized too late. Attempting to turn back, he found his body unresponsive.

A mysterious pale blue flame ignited on his chest. It spread rapidly, consuming his clothes, then his flesh, bones, and organs. In less than a second, he was reduced to ashes, unable to utter a scream before being whisked away by the wind, leaving no trace behind.

The other two individuals, just like Ao Yuan, spontaneously combusted at the same moment, engulfed in flames of the same pale blue hue.

Though numerous Evolvers had entered Chen Village recently, they had all been remarkably well-behaved. There were no disturbances or excessively outrageous acts. At most, there were minor disputes among the Evolvers, but nothing that escalated to fatalities.

However, today brought an unruly Evolver named Ding Yuhuan.

She had barely set foot in Chen Village before she killed an Evolver from the Country Organization—in one swift move, no less!

Her victim was a man who had been an Evolver for just over a month, possessing the Super Ability to control thoughts. Yet, it seemed to have no effect on Ding Yuhuan, who killed him with a lethal throat lock.

This incident alarmed all the Evolvers and cultivators in Chen Village. Until now, there had been a peaceful coexistence, with everyone biding their time, waiting for the emergence of the Strange Treasure before competing for it. But this red-haired woman, Ding Yuhuan, seemed oblivious to the unspoken rules, committing murder upon her arrival.

She quickly became the focus of everyone's disapproval.

"Ding Yuhuan, what are you thinking? Didn't the gatekeeper Uncle warn you about causing trouble in Chen Village when you entered?" Yang Xiaoyan was the first to confront her, accompanied by a bald man and a delicate-looking girl.

The trio had been there for several days, forced to build makeshift bamboo shelters in a nearby grove since no villagers would host them.

In fact, most Evolvers visiting the area didn't stay with villagers, and it appeared that the gatekeeper had informally sanctioned their temporary settlements near the village.

The only rule was to avoid causing trouble.

"Have you lost your mind? The Strange Treasure hasn't even appeared yet. By killing here, you're putting us all at risk!" The petite girl behind Yang Xiaoyan said, her brow furrowed in displeasure.

"Indeed, I've lost my mind," Ding Yuhuan replied, nodding before her gaze sharply turned to the girl who had spoken.

"Then you might as well die too." Her body vanished from its spot in an inconceivable way. In the blink of an eye, she had bypassed Yang Xiaoyan, materializing in front of the girl who had spoken.

She crouched slightly, elbow raised high, and then her body launched forward like a missile, her elbow slamming into the girl's chest.

Bang!

The petite girl, not a combatant Evolver, was too slow to react. A tearing pain exploded in her chest, and she knew her assailant's blow had crushed all her chest bones and severely damaged her internal organs.

She was sent flying backward, blood gushing from every orifice.

"Have you lost your mind?!" Yang Xiaoyan and the bald man were stunned, unable to respond in time. They had thought that since Ding Yuhuan became an Evolver, she scarcely used martial arts, and even when she did, it never seemed this devastating.

What had changed in her? Had she experienced some incredible fortune?

"Yeah, I've gone mad!" Ding Yuhuan was certain the petite girl wouldn't last much longer. Without pausing after her successful hit, she spun around and aimed a kick at the bald man.

Both Yang Xiaoyan and the bald man had rarely encountered practitioners of Ancient Martial Arts and were completely unprepared.

They had previously believed Ancient Martial Arts to be an inferior cultivation system, especially when compared to the myriad powers of Evolvers. But Ding Yuhuan's display had given them a new respect for martial arts.

By now, a crowd of Evolvers had gathered, most of them young and untested. Many were from influential families, and some had never witnessed such a brutal, bloody spectacle.

The bald man, an Enhanced Evolver with formidable physical strength, was on par with an 'Injured' level Evolver. Yet even he couldn't withstand Ding Yuhuan's seemingly effortless kick.

Indeed, he was sent flying five or six meters by her kick.

The kick, carrying a fierce gust, easily penetrated his defenses. Luckily, his robust physique prevented any injury.

Ding Yuhuan's initial strike missed its mark. She glanced at Yang Xiaoyan but refrained from attacking her. With a swift motion, she reappeared a dozen meters away.

Several Evolvers had been observing from a distance. They had assumed that Ding Yuhuan's aggression was due to a vendetta against Yang Xiaoyan's team, prompting her to kill. What they hadn't anticipated was that this frenzied woman would lash out at anyone in sight, utterly indiscriminate.

"Mad woman, who do you think you are?"

The speaker was a fair-faced young man with flowing long hair, brimming with confidence in his own abilities. He arrogantly assumed that Ding Yuhuan had mistaken her target. However, his words were abruptly cut short by a brutal knee strike!

Ding Yuhuan's right leg shot up, fully arched, as her knee violently thrust upward, connecting solidly with the young man's chin.

Crack, crack...

His body contorted sharply backward, emitting a series of bone-crushing noises. It was clear that his neck... must have snapped.

Without pausing after taking down another victim, Ding Yuhuan launched another attack. This time, her target was a portly man with a beard-stubbled face.
