C7 Senior Brother Taught Me

Lin Feng sat tranquilly in his courtyard, eyes closed, meditating. The western sky was painted with strokes of crimson as the day waned.

A grumble from his stomach rudely interrupted his cultivation. He sighed in resignation; no longer an Immortal Venerable, he had to contend with mortal needs like eating and sleeping—a nuisance indeed.

Glancing at the dilapidated stove, Lin Feng's face twisted with dismay. Cooking was a challenge for him; when had an Immortal Venerable ever needed to prepare his own meals?

Rising to his feet, Lin Feng decided to scavenge for something to eat. That's when a clamor erupted from beyond his humble abode.

He didn't need to look through the earthen wall of his yard to know what was happening outside; a crowd had gathered unexpectedly.

Lin Feng's brow furrowed as he observed the onlookers, who seemed fixated on his small courtyard.

Suddenly, the gate swung open.

"The newcomer must come out and face his demise."

The intruder was Zhang Tian, whom Lin Feng had previously chastised. This time, he had returned with his sister, hell-bent on exacting a brutal revenge on Lin Feng.

Zhang Ling'er, trailing behind, scolded her brother in a hushed tone. "Little Tian, don't be unreasonable."

She had intended this visit to be a cordial one, hoping to seek Lin Feng's guidance on the Shocking Swan Sword Style. But Zhang Tian had other plans—revenge.

"Absolutely, Sister, you're right. With so many people here, we should be discreet. Just come over and bow before Grandfather. He might just spare your life," Zhang Tian blustered, oblivious to the vast difference between his intentions and Ling'er's.

Some onlookers sighed and shook their heads, pitying Lin Feng for his misfortune. Having just joined the sect, he had already crossed paths with a bully, and now he had incited the wrath of an Eighth Empyrean of the Qi Sea. They speculated that even if he managed to survive, he would be left with severe injuries.

Others reveled in schadenfreude, eager to see how Lin Feng would handle the confrontation now that Zhang Tian's sister had stepped into the fray.

Zhang Ling'er furrowed her brow as she looked at her brother, realizing it was her oversight not to have warned him earlier about not provoking this person. If she let him continue his reckless behavior, trouble was likely to ensue.

Just as she was about to speak, a terrifying presence enveloped her, sending shivers down her spine. She immediately became vigilant and turned her attention to Lin Feng.

What a terrifying presence. What level of cultivation did he possess to exude such a powerful aura?

Lin Feng's expression was icy. He had generously offered a chance for survival, yet this man was not only ungrateful but had also brought his sister to cause more trouble. Since he seemed intent on seeking death, Lin Feng was prepared to oblige.

Zhang Tian was startled by Lin Feng's daunting aura, but he didn't care in the slightest, especially since he had his sister with him.

"Hey, you dare glare at me? Big sister, take him down..."

Before Zhang Tian could finish, he noticed his sister's expression change and paused, about to say something else.

Smack!

Zhang Ling'er's slap landed crisply on his cheek, the sound echoing around them. Zhang Tian's ears rang, and his head spun in confusion.

He looked at his sister incredulously.

"Sis, you... you hit the wrong person, didn't you?"

Zhang Ling'er's face was livid with anger.

"Be quiet," she commanded.

She then turned to Lin Feng with extreme politeness, her demeanor almost servile as she bowed with her hands clasped.

"Senior Brother, my younger brother is foolish and has caused offense. Please, forgive us."

A cold sweat broke out on Zhang Ling'er's forehead. She had distinctly felt the murderous intent radiating from Lin Feng, a chill unlike anything even the Inner Sect disciples had experienced.

Though Zhang Ling'er was unsure of Lin Feng's origins, she was certain of one thing: this man was not to be trifled with.

The onlookers gasped in astonishment at the scene. Zhang Ling'er, the top prodigy of the Outer Sect with strength at the eighth level of Qi Sea and favored by the Inner Sect's esteemed elders, was bowing and scraping to a newcomer.

This made no sense!

Zhang Tian stared at his sister, his disbelief overshadowing his earlier concern about being struck. He couldn't fathom what she was doing. In his heart, he seethed at the thought of some upstart making his elder sister submit. Yet, catching her stern look, he dared not utter another word.

"Hmm, you know what's good for you. Now get out of here. I don't want to waste my time on you."

Lin Feng spoke with a dismissive air.

Had it not been for Zhang Ling'er's intervention, Zhang Tian might very well have been a dead man by now.

The onlookers gasped in astonishment.

Damn, this newcomer has some nerve. Elder Sister Zhang Ling'er was merely being polite, and he's gotten all full of himself, daring to speak so boldly.

Zhang Tian was seething with anger. He couldn't fathom why his sister would act this way, but deep down, he believed that a newcomer didn't deserve such courtesy from her.

Nevertheless, if his sister was being polite, he felt he should be even more so, adopting an air of superiority.

His fists clenched tightly, he was itching to charge at Lin Feng and fight it out.

Zhang Ling'er breathed a sigh of relief. At least Lin Feng's murderous aura had dissipated, which was a positive sign.

But she had come here for more than just that.

"Senior Brother, I have another favor to ask. Could you teach me the Seven Stances of Shocking Light? It's the technique you used earlier. I suspect you've already perfected it," Zhang Ling'er requested.

Beside her, Zhang Tian's eyes bulged in disbelief as he stared at his sister.

"Sis, you... you must be mistaken. How could he possibly..."

Zhang Tian couldn't believe that Lin Feng knew the Shocking Light Sword Technique, much less that he had mastered it.

The Shocking Light Sword Technique was a renowned skill of the Sunfire Order, and only those who had reached the Foundation Establishment Realm within the sect could perfect it.

He had never heard of anyone mastering it at the Qi Sea level. Besides, wasn't this person a newcomer? When had he learned it?

"It's absolutely impossible. I've been practicing the Shocking Light Sword Technique since I was nine years old, for eight years now. Though I haven't witnessed it myself, the seven-colored radiance you described is unmistakably the Shocking Light Sword Technique. There's no mistaking it."

"And the marks on your body are indeed characteristic of the Shocking Light Sword Technique," Zhang Ling'er declared with conviction.

Zhang Ling'er spoke with absolute certainty. At that moment, Zhang Tian found himself at a loss for words. He might not have been sure about other things, but when it came to the Shocking Light Sword Technique, he believed no one in the Outer Sect knew it better than his sister. She had a passion for swordsmanship, particularly the Shocking Light Sword, and had even managed to self-cultivate it to the third realm. Her deep affection and familiarity with it made it impossible for her to be mistaken.

Zhang Tian's breathing became rapid, and he felt lightheaded—a clear sign of his intense anxiety. The thought of someone cultivating the Shocking Light Sword to perfection was daunting; it would take an extraordinary genius to achieve such a feat. He finally realized why his sister had treated him with such respect. It wasn't just her good manners; he truly possessed great strength, and it was likely that his abilities even surpassed hers.

No, it was a certainty. Otherwise, she wouldn't look at him with a hint of fear. This realization frightened him. He had inadvertently provoked someone so formidable. If that person wanted him dead, wouldn't it be as simple as snapping their fingers?

The others present were equally astonished. They had no reason to doubt Zhang Ling'er's judgment. Now, they regarded Lin Feng with a sense of trepidation. What kind of formidable individual could perfect the technique at the Qi Sea realm?

"Shocking Swan? Are you referring to the technique that young man used earlier?" Lin Feng inquired, puzzled. He had never practiced the Shocking Swan; his intention had merely been to replicate Zhang Tian's technique to counter him.

Hearing this, Zhang Ling'er was nearly breathless. Could someone really perfect the Shocking Swan with just a glance? What kind of anomaly was he? Even the legendary prodigies of the Sunfire Order's history couldn't achieve such a bizarre level of mastery. Yet, this only solidified her resolve.

"Senior brother, please teach me," she requested.

Lin Feng settled down, closed his eyes, and began to recuperate.

"I'm not available," he responded curtly.

Zhang Ling'er shivered slightly at the outright rejection, which left no room for discussion. In truth, Zhang Ling'er was a stunning beauty, and her exceptional talent made her the epitome of a goddess in the eyes of many Outer Sect disciples.

Many disciples from the inner sect were smitten with her, and it could be said that if she needed anything, a single word from her would have numerous people willing to go through fire and water for her. Such was the advantage of a beautiful woman, yet Lin Feng remained unmoved.

Zhang Ling'er bit her lip in frustration.

"I am willing to offer all my possessions, ten thousand spirit stones, as compensation. Please, Senior Brother, grant my request. If that's not enough, I am prepared to serve as your maid for a month."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Tian was shocked. His sister was known for her aloofness and purity. Once, an inner sect disciple had tried to invite her to dinner, offering precious medicinal pills as an enticement.

She had declined, citing the impropriety of such a meeting between a man and a woman. Yet now, she was ready to lower herself to servitude for this newcomer.

The bystanders all marveled at the newcomer's incredible fortune, to potentially gain both wealth and beauty.

"I said I'm busy. Don't bother me again," Lin Feng replied, his impatience evident.

His response left everyone present in disbelief. Faced with such an enticing offer, Lin Feng remained indifferent. What kind of mindset did he have? Did he truly have no interest at all?

Zhang Ling'er stood there, stunned. She had not anticipated this outcome.

She wasn't one to flaunt her beauty or abilities, yet she had always been quietly confident in them. But today, after encountering Lin Feng, her self-assurance had completely shattered.

With disappointment in her eyes and realizing Lin Feng's resolve, Zhang Ling'er would not linger unwanted. She weakly cupped her hands in a gesture of farewell and was about to depart.

Just then, Lin Feng's stomach growled. He frowned, then unexpectedly turned to Zhang Ling'er and asked, "Can you cook?"

Caught off guard, Zhang Ling'er hesitated before replying, "I... I can manage a bit."

Lin Feng exhaled deeply.

"Then, from now on, you'll cook for me, and in return, I'll teach you swordsmanship. Is that acceptable?"

To him, spirit stones and beauty were of little consequence. After all, he had once been a revered figure in the Immortal Realm. But cooking was a different matter entirely—it was his genuine dilemma.

Zhang Ling'er's mouth fell open in disbelief. Was he serious, or was this some kind of joke? It seemed too straightforward.

However, she quickly composed herself and agreed before Lin Feng could change his mind.

The others couldn't help but marvel. Who would have guessed that Lin Feng would make such a request?

Consequently, Zhang Ling'er busied herself in Lin Feng's home, cheerfully tending to the stove and pot, the very picture of a joyful young bride.

Zhang Tian was right on her heels, eagerly assisting her.

Meanwhile, a young man dressed in white arrived at Zhang Ling'er's residence on his flying sword.

"I've invited Junior Sister Ling'er to dinner three times already. Surely, she can't have a reason to turn me down again."

With this thought, the young man's face lit up with anticipation. Any member of the Outer Sect would have recognized him as a disciple of the Inner Sect by his attire.
