C2 Chapter 2

"Infidelity?" The driver, a middle-aged man, casually accepted the 100 yuan from Chen Dong and asked with a chuckle.

"Why does it have to be that?" Chen Dong muttered, clearly frustrated.

The driver let out a knowing laugh. "Believe me, I've been driving a cab for nearly two decades. This isn't the first time I've come across something like this."

"Yep, I think my wife is having an affair." Chen Dong shrugged nonchalantly. These seasoned taxi drivers had a keen eye for such matters.

"Just sit back and relax. I'm quite experienced in these situations. I won't lose them or get caught. My car may look old, but it drives just as well as a luxury Benz," the middle-aged man assured him with a grin as the taxi sped up to tail the flashy Benz ahead.

It's a well-known fact that veteran taxi drivers love to chat.

Throughout the ride, despite Chen Dong's lack of engagement, the chatty driver seemed perfectly content to keep the conversation going on his own.

"A hotel, and a five-star one at that," the driver commented with a whistle, eyeing the Benz as it pulled into the underground parking of the upscale hotel. "Your wife's paramour seems to be quite wealthy," he said, almost enviously, as if he wished it were his own spouse being courted by such affluence.

Chen Dong rolled his eyes in annoyance. If the driver wasn't good at making conversation, he thought, it would be better if he just kept quiet.

The taxi descended into the second level of the underground parking lot.

"Next time you're in a bind like this, give me a call. I guarantee you'll be pleased with my service," the driver said, handing Chen Dong his business card with a beaming smile.

Chen Dong accepted the card but had no desire to engage further. Was the driver insinuating that his wife would cheat again?

Some people should just keep quiet. A less patient person might have already given the driver a piece of their mind.

"Anyway, she's not really my wife," Chen Dong said, shrugging off the situation with an air of indifference. After all, Lee Susu wasn't truly his spouse.

But then he corrected himself, "No, wait, she is my wife now. Damn." Chen Dong's expression darkened. He had been reborn in Chen Dong's body, and Lee Susu was indeed his lawfully wedded wife.

Chen Dong hastened his pace, watching as Lee Susu rested her hand on the shoulder of an unfamiliar man before they both entered the elevator.

"The eighteenth floor," Chen Dong muttered to himself, standing before the closed elevator doors. He watched the indicator light until it settled on the eighteenth floor, then stepped into the adjacent elevator to ascend directly to the same level.

The eighteenth floor wasn't crowded with rooms—just eight in total.

"Which one could it be?" Chen Dong wondered, his gaze darting about. He had arrived too late to see which room Lee Susu and the man had entered.

"Hello, I'm here with your food delivery. Please open the door," Chen Dong announced, approaching the nearest room and ringing the doorbell.

Silence reigned within.

"No answer? Time to try the next one." After a brief wait, Chen Dong rang the bell again, but to no avail.

"Hello, your food delivery has arrived," he said, moving to another door and pressing the doorbell.

"Did anyone here order food?" came a puzzled voice from inside.

"Only a lunatic would order food."

"Come on, the girl's already out of it. She thinks she can get what she wants without paying a price? Impossible."

"Mmm..."

Mixed with the sounds of impatience were the moans of a woman, tinged with pain and confusion.

"Looks like my luck's holding up," Chen Dong whispered to himself, a smirk forming on his lips. He recognized the moaning—it was his own wife, Lee Susu.

"To not even have your wife's phone number... that's pretty sad. But don't worry, pal, I'll take good care of her for you," Chen Dong thought bitterly. If only he had her number, a simple phone call would have sufficed, sparing him this hassle.

"No one here ordered food. Scram, kid!" The door swung open, revealing a young man in a garish floral shirt, his tone laced with irritation.

Thump!

Chen Dong's foot flew out, landing squarely in the young man's stomach.

"Ugh!" The man in the floral shirt's mouth gaped open as he expelled a graceful arc from his belly.

Chen Dong sidestepped the mess and shut the door behind him.

Chen Dong had sensed something amiss earlier. This body, previously on the brink of death due to ill health, had undergone a transformation following his rebirth. It now pulsed with an extraordinary strength, and his senses, both hearing and sight, had significantly improved.

Otherwise, the soundproofing in this five-star hotel is so effective that you could party to your heart's content inside without a peep being heard outside, unless you're literally tearing the place down.

"Don't worry about it. You don't need to order anything; my place delivers for free," Chen Dong said cheerfully as he entered the room.

The room was quite spacious, featuring two bedrooms and a living area. At that moment, six people, including a man in a floral shirt, were gathered inside.

Lee Susu was sprawled on the sofa in the center of the room, her clothes disheveled, showing no signs of consciousness.

One of the men, with a pale complexion and puffy eyes, appeared to be suffering from kidney deficiency. He turned around in astonishment, his pants undone halfway.

"Who the hell are you? I said I didn't want any takeout. Get lost," the kidney-deficient young man spat out upon seeing Chen Dong. He was irate at being interrupted just as things were getting interesting.

Clearly, the young man was sexually aroused and mistook Chen Dong for a delivery person in his confused state.

"You don't woo a woman like this, especially not with drugs. That's just despicable," Chen Dong remarked, glancing at the unconscious Lee Susu. Nearby, an empty blue packaging bag lay discarded—the blue pills it once contained were nowhere to be found.

"Get him out of here. Any riffraff thinks they can lecture me?" the young man grumbled discontentedly.

"Actually, I'm not here with takeout. I've come to take my wife home," Chen Dong said with a grin, unfazed by the four men closing in on him. After a previous encounter, he was well aware of the strength of his altered body.

"Your wife?" the young man asked, looking around in bewilderment. His mind was foggy; there were no other women present.

"You're Lee Susu's pathetic husband?" the young man in the suit, who had been leisurely sipping his drink on the sofa, inquired with a hint of surprise.

"Exactly," Chen Dong replied with an even broader smile, nonchalantly confirming the query.

"Well, if she's your wife, then we have no problem," the kidney-deficient young man said, his smile widening. His judgment was delayed, clouded by his arousal and the alcohol's influence.

"Break his arms and legs, then let him watch what I do with his wife..." the frail young man said with excitement.

Bang!

Chen Dong delivered a swift kick to the young man's groin, instantly transforming his boastful words into a scream. Clutching his crotch, he dropped to his knees.

The onlookers' eyes twitched repeatedly; they could have sworn they just heard the sound of an egg cracking.

"Bastard, do you have any idea who Chu Yun is?"

The young man in the suit could no longer sip his wine with composure. The thought of that egg-cracking sound sent shivers down his spine and made his scalp tingle with fear.

If Chen Dong had truly incapacitated the young man with that kick, then they, the witnesses, would be lucky to escape with their skins intact.

"Who? Never heard of him," Chen Dong replied with a nonchalant shrug.

"Idiots, what are you waiting for? Grab him, or do you want to die?" the suit-clad young man bellowed in frustration, striding over to Chu Yun to offer assistance.

"Chu Yun, are you okay?" he asked urgently, his gaze involuntarily drifting to the area Chu Yun was desperately guarding. His eye twitched uncontrollably, and his face contorted as if he were in the throes of a seizure.

It seemed the young man might well be ruined for good.
