C17 Chapter 17

"Who is Director Lee calling out to?"

Before Yang Qi could finish her sentence, the two bodyguards at the entrance failed to stop her, and Lee Susu barged in, her presence commanding and fierce.

Chen Dong touched his nose, thinking to himself how unfortunate he was to have married such a formidable woman. Not only did he have to tiptoe around her mood daily, but he also endured constant scolding.

In the lounge, it was just Chen Dong and Yang Qi. Yang Qi glanced back and forth between them, then approached Chen Dong with determination, pointing at her own nose as she interrogated, "I've been told you're causing a scene here. Do you even realize where you are?"

"I'm aware, it's the model lounge."

Lee Susu's anger flared even more at Chen Dong's composed response. She glared at him as if he hadn't given her a second thought, her voice growing harsher, "Knowing that, you still cause trouble! Get out, now!"

Chen Dong remained still.

Oh, so he's defiant now? Lee Susu crossed her arms, her face reddening with anger, "Do you or do you not want me to pay back that one million to Zhang Qi?"

"I don't recall ever asking you to pay it back." Chen Dong surmised that it must have been the company's staff gossiping, which had led to Lee Susu mistakenly believing he expected her to repay the money.

Lee Susu scoffed and arched an eyebrow, "Even if I don't pay it for you, do you think you can afford it?"

Right after she spoke, a bank card appeared before Lee Susu, catching her off guard. She pointed at the card, puzzled, "What's this supposed to mean?"

"One million." That's right, he remembered now. Yang Guogang had just transferred three million into his account. Chen Dong touched his nose again and explained, "There's three million in there. Keep the remaining two million for yourself."

"This..." Had there not been another woman present, Lee Susu might have thought she was living a dream. Was she mistaken? Had that good-for-nothing man actually handed her a card claiming it contained three million?

For a moment, Lee Susu was at a loss whether to take the card or not.

Chen Dong leaned forward, placing the card in his wife's hand, and turned to Yang Qi, "Miss Yang, is it time to clock out?"

Glancing at the gold watch on her wrist, Yang Qi, still unable to grasp the situation, nodded and said, "Yes, just wait for me. I need to pack up my things first."

Lee Susu watched the pair walk past and suddenly felt a pang of realization. The credit card in her hand seemed to burn with betrayal. Wait, was Chen Dong, that good-for-nothing, cheating on her?

After dropping Yang Qi off at her home, Chen Dong discovered that Yang Guogang wasn't there; it was the family driver who came out to greet her. It was then that Chen Dong learned that Xu was not only Yang Guogang's personal driver but also the butler for the Yang family.

By the time he got back to the Lee family home, it was already 9 PM. He figured there wouldn't be any dinner waiting for him, and sure enough, the house was dark when he opened the door.

Fumbling for the light switch on the wall, Chen Dong was momentarily blinded as the room lit up. Shielding his eyes, he noticed a silhouette on the sofa—it was Lee Susu.

Chen Dong pursed his lips, held his breath, and bent down to change his shoes.

"So you do know how to come home?" Lee Susu, seated on the sofa, shifted her posture and crossed her legs. "Out there flirting with other women, have you grown too bold?"

Lee Susu knew the ins and outs of Susu Fashion better than anyone. She was well aware of the artists and models managed by the company. Even though Yang Qi's status within the company wasn't public knowledge, Lee Susu was no fool. How many wealthy families with the surname Yang could there be? She had her suspicions.

With a smirk, Chen Dong asked, "Jealous?"

Lee Susu was taken aback. Was she actually feeling jealous? Impossible! How could she be so irrational over someone so worthless? Annoyed and embarrassed, Lee Susu leaped up from the sofa and strode over to Chen Dong, pointing a finger at his nose. "What do you think you are? Chen Dong, you'd better come clean. Did you borrow this money from Yang Qi?"

Lee Susu couldn't fathom Chen Dong conjuring up three million yuan out of nowhere. There was only one plausible explanation: it had to be Yang Qi.

"Take your hand off me." Chen Dong didn't appreciate being pointed at; it was impolite.

He locked eyes with the man, his gaze shifting in a way that hadn't been seen before. Lee Susu, taken aback, awkwardly lowered her hand and retorted defiantly, "You're nothing but a leech, living off women. You're destined to never hold your head high again."

With that, Lee Susu stormed out, slamming the door behind her without leaving even a sliver of space.

Chen Dong exhaled deeply, made his way to the sofa, and took a seat. He leaned back, his mind weighed down by the encounter.

Out of nowhere, a face popped into view. Chen Dong's fists tightened, nearly swinging at the intruder. Recognizing her, he recalled that this was Lee Susu's sister, Lee Sujin.

Earlier that morning, she had ridiculed Chen Dong. It seemed the sisters shared the same streak. Lee Sujin now sat next to him, her face turned towards him with a smirk, "Having a spat with your sister?"

That smile seemed to revel in his misfortune. Chen Dong paid her no mind, reclining in his chair to rest his eyes.

"You know, my sister is actually quite easy to appease," Lee Sujin said, inching closer when Chen Dong didn't respond. "Why don't you use your charm—the same one that could convince a woman to hand over three million—to calm her down? I bet she'll cool off." She had never noticed before, but her brother-in-law was quite handsome—far more so than many of the bosses out there.

As Lee Sujin was lost in her thoughts, Chen Dong suddenly seized her hands and pinned her against the sofa armrest, his eyes blazing with rage, "What more do you want from me? Whether I've taken money or not, you accuse me! What in the world do you want from me?"

"Do you want to drive me to my grave?" Chen Dong was at his breaking point. What had he done to deserve such torment, to be constantly mocked and belittled? Did they really think he was that easy to push around?

So intense...

Lee Sujin couldn't believe her eyes; she was actually finding her brother-in-law's display of fury... attractive. Trying to lighten the mood, she joked, "Easy there, Brother-in-law, just take a breath. I'm only expressing my concern for you, alright?"

Chen Dong eyed the woman beneath him skeptically. He wasn't convinced of her benevolence, despite the subtle, enchanting fragrance wafting from her that jolted him back to reality. He became aware that their positioning was somewhat inappropriate and hastily attempted to push himself up.

Lee Sujin wasn't about to miss this prime opportunity. She lifted her hand to his waist and guided him back down towards her. "Brother-in-law, you haven't explained things to me yet."

"What are you two doing?" The door burst open, and Lee Susu stood at the threshold, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the doorknob.

"Sister," gasped Lee Sujin, her hand slipping away in surprise.

Chen Dong's body, now unrestrained, crashed down, landing on the woman beneath him as if he were a delicate piece of jade.
