C8 Run into the Corridor
Wu Qi was overwhelmed with excitement after his narrow escape. He was deeply relieved to be alive, grateful for Shen Faang's assistance, and Shen Faang's boldness, which had been crucial in evading the zombies.
Shen Faang, on the other hand, was completely drained. In the midst of battling the zombies, he hadn't anticipated their formidable strength, which had taken a toll on his energy.
Now, unable to run any further, he knew he had to find a suitable place to search for the divine artifact. Continuing on might lead to more encounters with those detestable creatures.
Thus, he recognized the need for thorough preparation to avoid being caught off guard by similar situations in the future.
Shen Faang turned to Wu Qi and suggested, "Wu Qi, let's check out that place. I'm confident the craft store will have what we're looking for."
Wu Qi was at a loss for words. In such circumstances, he wasn't one to offer suggestions.
He and Wang Mengyan simply nodded in agreement. They were resigned to follow Shen Faang's lead.
Together, the trio arrived at the handicraft shop, a place they had never visited before.
Both Wu Qi and Wang Mengyan were perplexed. It was just a craft shop; what could possibly be of use there? Yet they refrained from voicing their doubts, not wanting to appear foolish.
Upon reaching the Valley God Residence, they were confronted with a scene unlike any they had encountered before, causing them to instinctively step back at the sight of the carnage.
Shen Faang, however, viewed the bodies with little sentiment. Such sights were all too familiar to him, and he felt detached from the deaths.
Wu Qi was petrified by the corpses. He had never faced anything like this before, and his naturally timid nature had been pushed to its limit just by escaping alive.
So he turned to Shen Faang and said, "Shen Faang, what should we do? I'm really scared, and I don't dare go back in there. Maybe you two should go in, and I'll wait outside by myself."
Seeing Wu Qi's timid demeanor, Shen Faang couldn't help but chuckle. He told Wu Qi, "If both of us go in and leave you out here by yourself, you'll be even more frightened. You should come in with us.
Besides, Mengyan isn't scared, and she's a girl. What's there for you to be afraid of?"
Wu Qi didn't argue; he realized Shen Faang made a lot of sense. Staying out there alone would probably be even scarier.
So, they followed Shen Faang into the craft store, intent on selecting items that would be useful in their future battles against the dreadful zombies.
Otherwise, relying solely on their bare hands, it would be impossible to defeat the zombies. They had managed before, but as time went on, their stamina would wane, making it tough to sustain their escape.
Shen Faang scrutinized the shelves and spotted exactly what he needed—a sword. Although it was a mere artifact, its power was formidable and would likely inflict damage on the zombies.
This was his ultimate purpose for braving the dangers of the craft store: to find a weapon capable of combating the zombies.
Shen Faang then instructed them, "Wu Qi, Mengyan, each of you grab a sword from over there, see the one on the shelf? I believe with these swords, we'll be able to take down those vile creatures and make our escape. We're running out of time."
With that, Wu Qi and Wang Mengyan dashed toward the shelf. They were unsure of what else to do, but they were acutely aware that they needed to grab the swords immediately to increase their chances of a successful escape.
Once they had the swords in hand, everyone felt a sense of satisfaction. They hadn't expected to acquire the swords so effortlessly, and it bolstered their confidence in their inevitable victory over the zombies.
With the swords' aid, they would be nimbler in the battles to come and could rely on their own strength to defeat the zombies.
After they had seized the sword, Shen Faang suddenly felt unwell. His body seemed to be pumping out too much adrenaline, leaving him too exhausted to keep running.
If they remained there, those dreaded 再ombies would surely come after them, and they were at a loss for what to do.
Seeing Shen Faang in such distress, Wu Qi and Wang Mengyan were clueless about the cause and equally uncertain about their next steps.
Wu Qi, looking down at Shen Faang sprawled on the ground, asked with concern, "Shen Faang, what's wrong? Are you feeling extremely unwell?"
Both were deeply worried about Shen Faang's health. If he couldn't keep going, their chances of escaping were slim, and they risked running into the zombies they so feared.
Shen Faang shook his head and said to Wu Qi, "Wu Qi, Mengyan, you two need to quickly carry me to the nearby corridor. I think I've got an adrenaline overload, and I just can't keep up with you anymore. But you two should go ahead, don't worry about me."
However, Wu Qi and Wang Mengyan couldn't possibly leave him behind. It was Shen Faang who had enabled their escape.
Without hesitation, Wu Qi and Wang Mengyan supported Shen Faang and dashed for the corridor, knowing they needed to reach that relatively safe haven as quickly as possible.
