C20 Turning from Danger to Safety
Shen Faang suddenly shouted at them, "Everyone, get in the car quickly! The zombies haven't attacked yet, so we need to reach a relatively safe place. I'm sure that once we drive off, the zombies won't be able to follow us."
Hearing this, they wasted no time in responding. It was clearly the best plan under the circumstances, so without further discussion, they all hurried toward the vehicle.
Shen Faang had made all the necessary preparations. He was confident that soon he would have complete control of the situation and prevent such an incident from recurring.
But he soon realized that a new problem was emerging. Just as he was ready to start the car and lead their escape, he discovered that the car wouldn't start.
This frustrated Shen Faang immensely. He had Lin Hao quickly check the car, only to find that it had gasoline. Yet, for some unknown reason, the car chose the worst possible moment to fail to start.
At that moment, the zombies attacked the bus again, surrounding it and creating a tense atmosphere for everyone inside.
The zombies seemed determined to do whatever it took to overturn the bus. If they succeeded, the group would be unable to leave and would become nothing more than food for the zombies.
Their immediate goal was clear: prevent the zombies from flipping the car, or they might all perish.
Shen Faang instructed them, "The most important thing right now is to stop these zombies from overturning our car.
Lin Hao and Wu Qi, you two are responsible for starting the car. Meanwhile, I'll take care of the zombies that are getting up. Remember to close and lock the doors and windows. Don't give the zombies any opportunity to get in. Understood?"
Everyone nodded in agreement. This was undoubtedly the best course of action for the moment. Otherwise, they had no idea what might happen next.
Lin Hao and Wu Qi quickly worked on starting the car, hoping to fix the bus and secure their chance of survival.
Shen Faang, however, had more pressing matters to attend to. He had noticed that the zombies were already trying to crawl into the car, and the strength of the glass was not enough to stop their relentless advance.
Shen Faang knew he had to get them out quickly; if the zombies breached their defenses, he wouldn't know what to do next.
He continued to launch attacks, yet no one had a clear plan of action.
In a moment of clarity, Shen Faang decided to use the safety hammer on the bus to take down the zombies. Only by posing a threat could they prevent more zombies from swarming into their vehicle.
Wu Qi and Lin Hao were tasked with starting the bus, but they quickly realized that what seemed simple was incredibly challenging.
They tried desperately to start the vehicle, but no matter how much effort they exerted, they ended up empty-handed, growing increasingly anxious. They feared they wouldn't be able to fend off the zombie onslaught and would be devoured.
Lin Hao turned to Wu Qi and instructed, "Wu Qi, check the fuel line again. If it's submerged in water, we won't be able to start the bus at all. Got it?"
Without a moment's hesitation, Wu Qi sprinted to the fuel tank.
Upon inspection, he confirmed Lin Hao's suspicion: the fuel line was indeed waterlogged, rendering them immobile. Wu Qi quickly removed the pipe, hoping to somehow get the bus moving.
Meanwhile, Shen Faang was relentlessly fighting off the zombies, taking them down one by one.
He had already expended a great deal of his energy, leaving him with no means to continue the assault.
Still, he knew he had to be prepared; the zombies could not be allowed on the bus, as it would put everyone's lives at risk.
Just as the zombies prepared for another wave of attack, Lin Hao discovered that the bus was now operational. He pressed the ignition button and to his relief, the bus showed significant signs of life.
The engine hummed continuously, bringing a wave of elation to the group. They hadn't anticipated such a turn of events and without further discussion, they focused on their collective strength, confident they could overcome the zombie threat.
Lin Hao urged Shen Faang, "Shen Faang, push those zombies off quickly. I'm about to start the vehicle, and with a bit of momentum, we should be able to shake off any that have climbed on."
"But you need to be fully prepared. Make sure they don't tip the car over. If they do, starting the engine won't do us any good. Got it?"
Seeing the bus nearly back to normal, Shen Faang was overjoyed. Yet, he also felt the weight of his responsibility—he wasn't sure how to keep the zombies from targeting the bus.
He knew, though, that once the vehicle started, the zombies wouldn't stand a chance at keeping up.
Lin Hao rallied everyone to grab the few safety hammers available on the bus and to keep fighting off the zombies. He hoped to use the hammers to fend off the undead and ensure the safety of every passenger.
Thanks to Shen Faang's hard work, the zombies didn't manage to overturn the bus. They quickly started the engine and made their way toward the train station.
From there on, everything should run smoothly. Once they distanced themselves from the city, they would leave all the dangers far behind.
