C12 Lucky Escape
Shen Faang glanced at Wang Mengyan and said, "Now that you've also made the switch, let's keep moving forward. Otherwise, the zombies will be on us again, and we'll truly have no escape."
Wang Mengyan didn't respond; she just hurried to keep pace with Shen Faang. She understood that they needed to flee this horrific place as quickly as possible or else they wouldn't stand a chance against the relentless pursuit of those detestable zombies.
They moved swiftly, hoping to soon escape and achieve their objective. Yet, they were unsure of the way and what the next moments might bring.
Shen Faang pressed on, occasionally glancing back to check if the zombies were gaining on them. If caught, they'd have to fend off the zombies or face a perilous situation—something Shen Faang desperately wanted to avoid.
Time flew by, and Shen Faang began to feel hopeful as they had covered a considerable distance without being spotted by others or running into the zombies.
He was confident that they would soon reach their destination safely and without further pursuit from the zombies. Encouraging Wang Mengyan, he said, "Mengyan, keep it up. Just a few more steps and we'll be in a safe place. I'm sure we'll find Zheng Ziqing there, and then we'll be truly secure. So keep running and don't lose heart."
Wang Mengyan, on the brink of exhaustion, was comforted by Shen Faang's words. Today had been exhausting, filled with bizarre events and a brush with death, making it incredibly challenging.
Yet, the thought of nearing hope and safety brought him joy. Having endured so much, the idea of reaching a safer place was all he could focus on.
With Shen Faang's encouragement, he didn't utter another word. Instead, he mustered his courage and continued forward, believing that hope was just around the corner.
After roughly half an hour, the two had miraculously managed to escape and found Zheng Ziqing, who had also gotten out safely. This turn of events brought immense joy to Wang Mengyan and Shen Faang.
They hadn't anticipated such a swift escape. Upon reuniting with Zheng Ziqing, their happiness was evident. "Let's head to the supermarket first," one of them suggested to Ziqing. "I'm at a loss for what to do next. It was pure luck that got me out of there."
The sight of the two emerging unscathed brought great relief to everyone there, and in that moment, they all seemed to forget about Wu Qi's presence.
So, the group set off toward the supermarket, hopeful they would find it soon. But as they made their way, Shen Faang sensed something amiss behind them. His recent encounter with the Bat Beasts had left him with a heightened awareness of their presence.
Turning around, he was met with the sight of a large swarm of Bat Beasts. It appeared they were out for revenge. Shen Faang had previously shattered the wings of many Bat Beasts, sending them plummeting from the 30th floor to their demise.
Wang Mengyan, having been through the ordeal with Shen Faang, also saw the Bat Beasts and knew all too well what was about to unfold. He quickly took cover behind Shen Faang, desperate to avoid a repeat of their previous encounter.
Liu Fei, though unfamiliar with the creatures, recognized the gravity of the situation from Shen Faang's reaction. She had been terrified before, but the sight of the zombies left her paralyzed with fear, unable to move as she crouched on the ground.
Shen Faang, unsure of how to proceed, realized the Bat Beasts were likely after him for revenge. In that moment, his priority was to ensure the safety of his companions.
Shen Faang addressed the people behind him, "Everyone, fall back. Retreat quickly. I can handle this on my own. After all, I've already been in a major battle with them."
Fear gripped them all, yet they didn't seem capable of escaping. They realized that relying solely on Shen Faang's strength wouldn't be enough to take down the Bat Beasts, especially since he had already exhausted his energy.
Uncertain of their next move, they watched the zombies close in, fear intensifying, prompting a hasty retreat.
Zheng Ziqing, the young master, stood his ground, not joining the fearful retreat. He knew that leaving Shen Faang alone could spell disaster, and he was unwilling to let that happen.
Seeing everyone pull back, Shen Faang felt a wave of relief. This was the only way to ensure their safety. He stood his ground, continuing the fight against the Bat Beasts.
Once the others had retreated, he planned to take a shortcut to safety. However, to his surprise and relief, he found Zheng Ziqing by his side.
"Why are you here?" Shen Faang asked.
Zheng Ziqing offered a smile. "How could I leave you to face such a horde of Bat Beasts alone? I'm here to help. I couldn't be at peace knowing you were left behind."
Shen Faang couldn't help but smile, his heart warmed by the gesture. He hadn't expected Zheng Ziqing, of all people, to come to his aid, so he refrained from further comment.
Now, their immediate focus was to swiftly engage the Bat Beasts. They needed to defeat them quickly to secure their own safety.
