C10 He Was Attacked by the Bat Beast

Unexpectedly, Wu Qi found himself in a situation he hadn't anticipated. As he trailed closely behind Wang Mengyan and Shen Faang across the narrow bridge, zombies were hot on their heels, leaving Wu Qi with no escape.

He was filled with regret for not having taken the lead to cross the bridge earlier, which might have prevented his current predicament.

But there was no time for Wu Qi to dwell on his regrets. A Bat Beast swooped down on him. These Bat Beasts, mutated bats, were a terrifying sight.

If Wu Qi were to be infected by these creatures, his life would be at great risk. Meanwhile, Shen Faang and Wang Mengyan had reached the other side, unaware of the danger Wu Qi was facing. They assumed Wu Qi would catch up after considering their pace, not realizing he was under attack by a Bat Beast.

Desperate to move quickly, Wu Qi found himself paralyzed, unable to flee as the Bat Beasts descended upon him, relentlessly attacking his head. Overwhelmed with regret, he wished he had followed Shen Faang and Wang Mengyan to safety.

In a panic, he let out a loud cry for help, hoping Shen Faang and Wang Mengyan would hear and return to rescue him.

Only then might he have a chance at safety, avoiding further attacks. Wu Qi was acutely aware of the grim outcome if the Bat Beasts infected him.

Shen Faang and Wang Mengyan, now on the other side, believed they were safe. They anticipated that once Wu Qi joined them, they could all escape the zombie pursuit.

However, just when Shen Faang thought they were out of danger, Wang Mengyan suddenly said, "Shen Faang, did you hear that? It sounds like Wu Qi is calling for help." Initially, Shen Faang hadn't noticed, but upon listening carefully, he too heard Wu Qi's cries for help. Anxiety washed over Shen Faang as he realized Wu Qi must be in trouble; otherwise, he wouldn't be seeking their help now.

Wu Qi turned to Wang Mengyan and said, "This is bad. Wu Qi must be under attack by the Bat Beasts." Wang Mengyan, seeing Shen Faang's distress, didn't fully grasp what the Bat Beasts were, but he understood they were dangerous creatures capable of harming Wu Qi.

He refrained from saying anything further and quickly followed Shen Faang's lead, heading back toward the narrow bridge. They needed to make it back to the other side swiftly, or Wu Qi would soon be without vital signs—a situation they desperately wanted to avoid.

Shen Faang and Wang Mengyan moved at a brisk pace along the way. As they stood on the bridge suspended in mid-air, they were about to cross when they noticed the Bat Beasts had seemingly overpowered Wu Qi and were now coming for them.

Uncertain whether to press forward or retreat, they realized they had little choice in the matter. The Bat Beasts were already upon them, and even together, they stood no chance of escaping this calamity if they turned back now.

Wu Qi turned to Wang Mengyan and instructed, "Mengyan, stay behind me. When they approach, keep your head down and try not to be seen. As long as you avoid infection, I'm confident you'll make it out alive. Understood?"

Wang Mengyan seemed eager to say more, but she understood that further words would be futile. It was wiser to simply heed Shen Faang's advice.

So, without further ado, she dashed behind Shen Faang, hoping that he would swiftly defeat the Bat Beasts, allowing them to safely return to their rightful place.

Night fell in an instant, bringing with it a bone-chilling cold. Despite the frigid winds, they stood on the bridge, locked in combat with the Bat Beasts, unsure of victory but determined to try for Wu Qi's sake.

As the Bat Beasts closed in, Shen Faang was at a loss for how to engage them. He was acutely aware that any contact could result in infection by the same parasitic eggs that had afflicted Wu Qi.

He did his utmost to dodge the Bat Beasts, hoping to avoid contact, but as he found himself retreating, the creatures followed, creating a scene of sheer horror. He couldn't fathom why he kept backing away.

Moreover, he had never before faced a battle on such a precarious bridge. The thought that a single misstep could send him plummeting to his death was never far from his mind.

It really did seem to embody the ancient adage, "A single misstep can lead to a lifetime of regret." Thus, Shen Faang was not only engaged in battle with the Bat Beasts but was also fervently striving to maintain his balance. He hoped to soon stand firm on the narrow bridge, rather than being vanquished by the Bat Beasts and plummeting to the ground.

Yet the Bat Beasts showed no fear of falling from the bridge. They relentlessly advanced toward Shen Faang, who wielded the sword he had acquired from the craft shop to fend them off.

Despite his efforts, the Bat Beasts' vitality appeared incredibly resilient. Shen Faang had stabbed at them over a dozen times without any visible effect, leaving him uncertain of his next move. Nevertheless, he refused to be disheartened. He was convinced that perseverance in the fight would eventually yield positive results.

And so, he pressed on with the fierce battle against the Bat Beasts. After a grueling and bloody confrontation, he emerged victorious. Driven by sheer determination, he managed to draw the creatures in close, then swiftly produced a sharp sword and aimed for their wings.

Shen Faang was confident that by severing the wings of the Bat Beasts, they would no longer be able to sustain their aerial existence. The thirty-story drop was more than they could withstand. Once their wings were cut, they would plummet from the sky, and his objective would be fulfilled.
