The unexpected voice startled the four companions, draining the color from their faces.

They had thoroughly checked their surroundings before settling down and hadn't detected anyone's presence. Yet, the voice emerging out of nowhere indicated that someone was indeed very close by.

They quickly stood up, fanning out to scan the area.
