C6 Inspect
Done.
Yang Chao glanced at the inspection team leader next to him, his mind heavy with concern.
The leader had come to check on the elderly residents, to see if they were living well—whether they were diligently practicing Tai Chi to maintain their health, and how their food, lodging, and spirits were holding up.
He hadn't anticipated their arrival to be so sudden, and before he had the chance to greet the seniors, the inspection unfolded unexpectedly.
Yang Chao offered an awkward explanation: "Please, leaders, there's no need to rush. We were just engaging in a recreational activity, taking everyone back to the joy of their childhoods to alleviate some stress."
He chuckled nervously.
"It's okay, it's okay. The seniors here seem quite spirited."
The inspection team leaders were taken aback.
They had visited numerous communities where most residents couldn't care for themselves, living in odorous rooms and constantly requiring caregivers.
The spirits of those seniors were generally low. Frankly, some were very old with clouded minds, their bodies withered, and their meals appeared subpar.
Upon closer inspection, they noticed these seniors were clean, odorless, and their muscles even seemed more robust than those of many younger people.
The vigor with which one of the seniors had run a few steps and thrown a punch was something they couldn't match.
After some thought, the inspection leader nodded, pleased, a touch of joy in his eyes: "Not bad at all. Of all the inspections I've conducted, your facility stands out as satisfying. I'll now take a look at your living quarters."
The leader was clever, timing their visit around mealtime, when the seniors might just be getting out of bed or preparing for their meals to be delivered.
This tactic allowed them to catch anyone unprepared, arriving unannounced to witness the true conditions and ascertain the well-being of the residents.
"Very well, please follow me, leaders. This is our dormitory."
Yang Chao stepped forward and opened what appeared to be a modest door from the outside.
Upon pushing the door open, he was greeted by a long, pristine staircase. A few steps up revealed the house's peculiar layout.
The interior was spacious and immaculate, offering stunning views from every angle. Below, flowers bloomed, and the entire school was visible, bringing a sense of joy.
"Not bad. From here, you can see all the scenery. Should anything happen to the elders, you can assist them promptly. That's excellent," the leader said, nodding in approval. He was pleased to find someone taking their responsibilities seriously.
Another leader agreed, "Indeed. Several places have people eager to do a good job, but they lack the necessary resources. Sometimes, their efforts backfire, creating more problems than solutions."
Entering the old lady's house, they expected a tidy little cottage but instead found it brimming with fitness equipment.
Glancing to the side, the beds were spotless, with some larger than those found in hotels, and the decor varied in style throughout.
The old lady's room was a soft pink, filled with teddy bears, evoking a fairy-tale ambiance.
In another room, gym equipment filled the space, including a treadmill and neatly arranged dumbbells. The array of fitness gear was dazzling.
The leader inquired, "Whose room is this? Yours, Principal?"
The room, packed with exercise equipment, seemed fit for the principal alone. Its warm, fresh style was well-suited for a youthful spirit.
Soong Qingfeng stepped forward and earnestly reported, "Leader, this room is mine. I enjoy keeping fit in my spare time."
"Good for you. Even at your age, exercise is beneficial, but always be mindful of safety. Don't hurt yourself," the leader said, her expression a mix of surprise and admiration. She had not expected these seniors to be more vivacious than herself.
Some young people might purchase a treadmill only to use it once and then abandon it.
It was astonishing to see how well these seniors lived. Their linens and quilts were impeccably clean, and even designer clothes were on display, leaving onlookers speechless with amazement.
"By the way, it's already lunchtime. Have you prepared anything to cook? We were hoping to join you for a meal and get a taste of your daily fare."
The inspection team leader surveyed the area and nodded in approval. Indeed, the comfort here surpassed that of some upscale community villas.
The large, open spaces were arranged with a warm and inviting touch. Each area had its unique style, yet it was evident that these were homes where each elder took great pride and care.
"Sure, follow me. We're just about to start preparing lunch. Naturally, we take into account each elder's preferences."
Yang Chao stood off to the side, nodding and bowing. These were inspectors, after all. If they were displeased, they could shut down his community college in an instant. Then how would he continue to mentor these seniors?
The dilemma, however, was that if they were to eat whatever they fancied, some of the elders craved spicy food, others enjoyed hotpot for lunch, and a few even indulged in foods not typically associated with the elderly.
If the educational authorities witnessed this, they might have grounds for criticism. Walking along, Yang Chao stole glances at the leader who was admiring the scenery, feeling somewhat at a loss. He couldn't very well be blunt with the truth, could he?
Soong Qingfeng seemed to sense Yang Chao's concern and approached him, whispering, "Sir, we'd be happy to eat whatever you've prepared. It would showcase your exceptional culinary skills and your attentiveness to our needs. Rest assured, we'll be fully cooperative."
The students, overhearing the conversation, cast approving glances at Soong Qingfeng.
It was common knowledge that Yang Chao had a magic touch. Any dish he prepared could be infused with spiritual power.
Such meals not only tasted delicious but also had the ability to cleanse the body of impurities, benefiting everyone's health, especially that of the cultivators.
