C5 The People from the Education Bureau

Pregnant?

The audience was captivated by the unfolding drama.

Du Changsheng and Du Tianhao, however, didn't share the excitement. In the Du family, where lineage was passed down through three generations, succession was paramount.

Du Tianhao, looking at Little Ying's ashen face, was at a loss and turned to Du Changsheng for guidance.

After some deliberation, Du Changsheng resolved that while his cultivation journey was critical, it paled in comparison to the Du family's legacy. That would have to take precedence.

The nerve of this foolish woman to use the Du family's lineage as leverage! She deserved punishment, but that would have to wait until after the child was born...

He then stole a cautious glance at Yang Chao and offered a sheepish smile.

"To the hospital!" he declared, his demeanor shifting rapidly. Du Changsheng, Du Tianhao, and Little Ying quickly exited the Senior University.

Once they departed, tranquility returned to the classroom.

Back in his office, Yang Chao watched Du Changsheng and Du Tianhao rush away and shook his head, remarking dryly, "Is that it?"

Yang Chao could easily see that Little Ying wasn't pregnant; it was a desperate ploy. Yet, considering how seriously the Du family took their lineage, he wondered if his ex-girlfriend could withstand their wrath once the deception was revealed.

With a chuckle, Yang Chao mused, "I've been so restless lately. Why should I care about such trivial matters? I'd be better off figuring out how to invest in the university."

He sat down, pulled a stack of papers from his drawer filled with his musings on university investments, and got lost in thought.

As Yang Chao pondered reasons to continue funding the Senior University, Soong Qingfeng knocked. "Sir, the Department of Education is here for an inspection. They'd like to see you."

Hearing this, Yang Chao nodded, stowed the papers, straightened his attire in the mirror, and stepped out to meet them.

Soong Qingfeng stood in the corridor, surrounded by a few unfamiliar faces likely from the Department of Education.

The delegation was led by a middle-aged man with a square face. Yang Chao approached him with a warm smile, "Welcome, esteemed leader. What would you like to see during your visit?"

The officials were taken aback to find such a young man at the helm of the Senior University. Yet, the evident reverence the elderly held for him suggested he was no ordinary principal.

The square-faced leader returned the smile, "Greetings, Principal Yang. We've heard about your hands-on teaching approach and are eager to see the progress of your six students."

The other Senior Universities catered to the elderly with courses like drama, drumming, and square dancing, which made it hard to imagine this young man mastering such subjects.

Filled with anticipation, the square-faced man was ready to be impressed.

"No problem at all," Yang Chao responded with a grin. "Please, follow me."

He then led Soong Qingfeng and the education officials downstairs. His university, dedicated to the mystical arts of immortality, offered no conventional elderly entertainment. Instead, Yang Chao tailored his teachings to the varied interests and backgrounds of his students, imparting unique divine abilities to each.

He had six students, each with their own distinct powers.

Upon arriving at the teaching area, they were greeted by a whirlwind of activity.

Lee Jianbin and Wang Cuilian, whose children were studying abroad and not due back anytime soon, were seated on the ground. One played the suona while the other drew a bow across the erhu, their music swirling through the air, almost visibly touching the souls of those who listened.

Wu Laosan, previously engrossed in his gardening, stood up in annoyance. Ever since his son's wife had driven him out, his temper had grown short.

With a swing of his shovel, he disrupted the couple's harmonious notes, grumbling, "Can't you play somewhere else? Your racket is disturbing my gardening!"

Wang Cuilian let out a cold snort. "Old Wu, you'd better keep an eye on your Spiritual Root."

Wu Laosan's attention snapped back just in time to catch a shifty figure trying to make a getaway, clutching his freshly matured Spiritual Root.

It was none other than Chen Shouye. His son had opened a tavern at the district's entrance but never let him cook, despite his itching to do so. Hence, he often found himself cooking at the school.

Sensing the piercing energy behind him, Chen realized he'd been caught. With an awkward turn, he said, "Brother Wu, I just wanted to borrow a bit of Spiritual Root for my dish."

Wu Laosan's anger flared instantly. "Damn it, drop it right now! What kind of wastrel cooks with a Spiritual Root? Do you want to end up spewing blood?"

Without another word, Chen Shouye took off running, old limbs pumping furiously. Wu Laosan wasn't about to let him escape and took off after him, shovel in hand.

"Stop right there..."

Just then, a thunderous 'bang' erupted from a nearby house, halting everyone in their tracks. Out walked a dark-faced Old Man Wang, known for his irascible nature and his lifetime of childlessness, coupled with his exceptional skill in iron forging.

"Chen, you old fool, can't you keep an eye on your pot? Damn, it exploded! Scared the living daylights out of me. If your weapon forging failed, you're paying for it!"

Hearing his pot had blown up, Chen Shouye collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down his face. "My black iron divine pot..."

The five of them huddled together, each voicing their own arguments, creating a scene of utter chaos. Even the leadership team was taken aback. Yang Chao, feeling awkward, scratched his head and gestured for Soong Qingfeng to step in.

Soong Qingfeng charged over and bellowed, "Everyone, line up and settle down! We've got officials from the Education Bureau here for an inspection!"

As expected, Soong Qingfeng's roar brought them to order. They knew better than to mess with the class monitor, a body cultivator and a respected old military officer from a certain locale. They were no match for him, and they knew it.
