C18 Recruitment
Yang Chao abruptly turned on his heel and strode away, completely ignoring the ramblings of the unreliable old men behind him. He hadn't gone far when their bickering reached his ears once more.
"It's all your fault, getting him to find a new nurse!"
"Hey, I think you're the one with the problem. Isn't it great to have a few more young nurses around? They're both beautiful and competent. I'm thrilled!"
The commotion behind him continued unabated.
Meanwhile, in a comfortably well-off household, a family of four enjoyed a harmonious lunch. Chu Sixue, seated beside her chair, watched her family eat and spoke up softly.
"Dad, Mom, I've been thinking about getting a job. I've graduated from college, and it just doesn't seem right not to start working, does it?"
Her mother's immediate reaction was one of displeasure. "What's the rush? You've only just graduated, not that long ago. Why the hurry? Take your time. See what others are saying."
"Some people graduate and don't do anything right away. You could just enjoy yourself at home for a bit. We're not struggling to support you."
She finished speaking and glanced at her daughter, her eyes filled with a touch of helplessness. She wished her daughter would take some time to enjoy herself, but given her nature, it didn't seem quite fitting.
Most girls her age dream of leisure and fun, but Chu Sixue had always been different. She was diligent and frugal throughout her school years, always mindful of her expenses. Now, to her parents' surprise, she was intent on saving even more money, leaving them somewhat at a loss.
"We're not short on cash," her father finally chimed in. "You should do what makes you happy. There's no need to rush into work. You've earned a break. Why not enjoy it for a while?"
The family patriarch spoke out, his daughter's excessive prudence and thoughtfulness weighing on his heart.
Chu Sixue set down her chopsticks, visibly upset. "Even if we do have some extra money, I don't believe in idling away my time at home. I'd rather work hard and earn more, so I can contribute even more to you both."
Chu Sixue's philosophy was simple: if you have money, you should strive to earn more. The key was to earn it cleanly.
She had always believed that people should aim to increase their earnings. Yet, to her surprise, her parents disagreed. They didn't want her to chase after a high income; instead, they wished for her to take a break and rest at home for a while.
Moreover, it was common knowledge that time was precious. By earning more now, they could have a more comfortable New Year. What could be wrong with that?
"Look, I've made up my mind," she declared. "I'm going to search for jobs online and give them a try. If it works out, I'll start working right away. Please, don't try to stop me."
With that, she settled into a chair nearby.
Chu Sixue pulled out her phone and began browsing job listings. To her surprise, the first posting she stumbled upon was from a Senior University, offering a generous salary of over eight thousand yuan for elderly care.
The high salary was undoubtedly enticing, but she knew that caring for the elderly wouldn't be easy.
Many of the seniors were advanced in age, frail, and unable to care for their basic needs, which could be quite an unclean task. Still, she thought it was worth considering.
"How about this job?" she asked her parents, showing them the listing. "It's tough work, but the pay is over eight thousand yuan. I'm thinking of giving it a shot for a while to see if it's a good fit."
Her father was the first to react, his face clouding over with disapproval.
"What are you thinking? Do you have any idea how difficult it is to care for the elderly? Some can't even leave their beds, and you, a young girl, would have to attend to them. You've never had to endure such hardships at home. Why subject yourself to that outside?"
"Exactly," her mother chimed in. "Those elderly can be quite challenging, and you could end up dirty and exhausted. And who knows, they might be ill-tempered, and you could end up not getting paid at all!"
The couple continued to express their concerns, their worry evident. They understood the difficulties of life all too well, and the prospect of such a high salary left them momentarily speechless.
Sometimes, the cost of certain items can be exorbitant for adults, but they must ensure the money is legitimate, as they are adults themselves.
This doesn't mean they should subject their children to the same hardships.
"If we were truly struggling, I'd have come to you directly. But this job is incredibly hard, and I don't recommend you take it on. Understand?"
"Yes, adults might endure such difficulties, but you're just a kid. I urge you to let go of this idea. Your mother and I will never consent to you doing this."
Their expressions were gravely serious.
They couldn't bear the thought of their daughter enduring hardship. Under no circumstances did they want her to suffer.
"I plan to check it out first. If the pay is as promised, I might consider it. But those elderly folks need care, and I want to see if I can help."
Chu Sixue saw a hint of resignation in her mother's eyes. He truly wished she would agree to let him go, but the anger in both parents made it seem unlikely.
"You can't go!"
...
With a chill in the air, Yang Chao sat in his office, legs propped up, watching the stream of job applicants. He couldn't help but shake his head in disapproval.
The crowd was large, but the foul language some used was unacceptable. How could they possibly care for the elderly in such a manner?
Besides, this wasn't a real Senior University. If they were to care for actual seniors, such offensive talk could be incredibly harmful.
Imagine the old men at his school hearing such vulgarity—they'd likely take matters into their own hands. Then, he'd be the one compensating for the trouble.
