C16 Spiritual Power
The leader's proactive visit this time likely wasn't just to test the waters; he probably already had a wealth of information at his disposal.
Yang Chao felt a twinge of regret at having to spell it out. It was clear the leader was no ordinary player; he already had some inkling of the truth.
Scratching his head, Yang Chao couldn't help but feel awkward.
"Alright, since things have come to this today, I won't keep you in the dark any longer. Truth is, we have some formidable individuals on our side. We've heard tales of so-called Immortal Cultivators, but we've never actually seen one. It's all hearsay. However, after you drank the water, I started to suspect that you might just be one."
Wong Jie shook his head in resignation. He harbored no malice, yet some people simply refused to trust, leaving him feeling somewhat powerless.
It's typical of those in high places, like this group. Some are skeptical of what they hear, which is understandable, as not everyone is easily deceived.
Yang Chao was no different. He might remain silent, but certain events had already unfolded, and it wasn't possible for everyone to keep quiet.
"If you truly are an Immortal Cultivator, then I must offer you some protection. After all, your talents are being squandered at a Senior University. Don't you agree it's a bit beneath you?"
Wong Jie watched Yang Chao with a hint of anxiety, struggling to pin down the mix of emotions he felt. Seeing those elderly men exercising vigorously and radiating health had sparked a sense of wonder in him. To claim he wasn't envious would be a lie.
They were all in such good shape, even outperforming a middle-aged man like himself. Others might not be able to achieve such a feat.
Now that he knew of Yang Chao's prowess, why not pursue cultivation himself?
After all, cultivation is a positive pursuit. The question was whether Yang Chao would consent. If he agreed, it would be perfect.
Yang Chao regarded the leader with a contemplative gaze. If the leader's intentions were indeed that straightforward, then perhaps it was worth a shot.
"Alright, since that's the case, I can certainly get a lot done on my end. Tell me, what are you looking for? I'll think it over and see if it's something I can help you with. How does that sound?"
"All I want is for my health to improve; I've been sick for years. Other than that, I don't ask for much. I'm willing to offer some assistance to the Senior University. And if you're thinking of starting another school, I can lend a hand with that too."
Upon hearing Yang Chao's agreement, Wong Jie responded immediately. As a leader, he was well aware of the cultivators' existence, which had become common knowledge. So why not foster a good relationship with a cultivator? If any issues arose in the future, he could seek help in advance. Knowing someone powerful could only bolster his prospects and improve his work life.
Yang Chao nodded, picked up a cup of water from nearby, and handed it to the leader, speaking gently, "This water contains spiritual power. Take a sip and tell me how it feels. If you like it, we can discuss things further. I have many responsibilities, and I'm hoping you can assist me with some of them."
Simply running a makeshift community wasn't enough. Why not establish a reputable Senior University? Or perhaps enhance the renown of an existing one? This was what Yang Chao was contemplating, and he was eager to see if the leader would agree.
Peering through the doorway, Soong Qingfeng quietly observed Yang Chao conversing with someone inside. A few curious elders accompanied him, all wondering whether the Education and Investigation Bureau's visit was for reprimand or another matter. They were deeply concerned about their education; not being able to attend classes could mean significant losses.
"Do you all remember Du Changsheng? He was forced out of school. If our classes get suspended, we might lose touch with our teachers for good. Right?" Old Man Wang looked on, his eyes brimming with sadness.
The group was understandably anxious, fearing they might lose touch with Yang Chao. Everyone was well aware of the kind of person he was—a true educator whose abilities and other qualities were exceptional. They all yearned to learn more from Yang Chao, but the potential shutdown of his school loomed over them, threatening to cut off their access.
"I can't be bothered with all the details. Our school has to be open for the Education and Investigation Bureau's inspection. If anyone tries to stir up trouble on my watch, they're asking for trouble!" Soong Qingfeng declared, his temper flaring. He wasn't one to mince words. If anyone harbored ulterior motives, they'd face a united front, for they were all Yang Chao's students.
Their strength would only grow under Yang Chao's guidance. Anyone foolish enough to challenge that would face their collective wrath.
Yet, there were always those who recklessly disregarded the consequences, shamelessly stirring the pot. They couldn't just stand by and watch.
"Enough of this. I'll go have a word with the leader in a bit. I'm curious to see who outranks whom here," Soong Qingfeng muttered, barely containing his irritation.
The elders in the room were not to be underestimated. They were far from ordinary, each carving out their own distinct place in their field, much like Du Changsheng.
Yang Chao, overhearing the commotion outside, let out a yawn. The pointless chatter was insufferable. "Why don't you all come out and speak your mind? Stop beating around the bush. Isn't it tiresome?"
Approaching the group, Yang Chao's frustration mounted. They could have spoken plainly, but instead, they huddled together, peering inside, then looking again, which was incredibly irritating.
"We're just here to see the outcome," they explained. "Our Senior University is truly exceptional. If there are any issues, we're prepared to make the necessary changes."
