C15 Visit

Listening to Yang Chao's harsh words, Ying's fists tightened, her eyes brimming with a plea. "Considering the time we've spent together, can't you give me another chance? Please, I'm begging you."

There's a saying that men are drawn to beautiful women, especially those with tears streaming down their faces. Yet, despite her pitiful state, Yang Chao remained unmoved. Was she not pretty enough, or was there someone else in Yang Chao's life?

"Enough with the act. What do you take yourself for? You know exactly what you are, so I suggest you keep your mouth shut!" Soong Qingfeng said with an eye roll.

The men gathered here were all seasoned veterans, having lived through seven, eight, even nine decades. There wasn't much they hadn't seen or understood.

It was clear to everyone what Ying's intentions were. She was nothing but a manipulator. Did she really think she could weasel her way back into her former position by shedding a few tears? That's delusional!

Remember how Yang Chao was humiliated, standing there so self-righteously while causing trouble? He had been through a lot, leaving a deep psychological scar. Yet, some people still don't know when to stop. It's like they're begging for disaster.

"Our principal has already told you to scram. If you don't leave, don't blame us for throwing you out!" Lee Jianbin, known for his short fuse, stepped forward and spoke bluntly.

At this point, if he insisted on digging his own grave, the best course of action was to send him packing. Anything else was just a waste of time.

Yang Chao hadn't glanced their way once from start to finish. Giving them any attention now would only add to his own humiliation.

"What are you all standing around for? Just throw him out and stop wasting my time. Let's focus on our cultivation, understood?"

Ying was utterly hopeless. She had never imagined Yang Chao could be so callous, his complaints showing no desire for her well-being.

Any further words would be self-inflicted embarrassment. With a heavy heart, Ying turned and walked away, watching as the person she pleaded with disappeared from sight.

"Teacher, what was going on? Why did you choose this woman? Couldn't you see that she's clearly not discerning? Just one look and you know she's no good. If you're in need of female company, we could introduce you to some quality women!"

Wang Jianguo leaned in, brimming with curiosity. He had assumed that, given the teacher's discerning eye, she would have found an exceptional woman. To his surprise, she ended up with someone quite the opposite.

Moreover, the teacher was an immortal cultivator with formidable abilities. One would think that the woman she found would be nothing short of celestial, or at least appear to be exceptional. Yet, she seemed to be just an ordinary person.

"Enough with the gossip. Focus on your cultivation for now. I've heard that the Education and Investigation Bureau's leaders will be visiting us in a day or two. Make sure you're ready for their arrival."

Yang Chao wasn't overly concerned. Just the thought of the Education and Investigation Bureau's leaders gave him a headache. They were the true power holders.

Without their approval, he'd be powerless and lack the credentials to operate. But if they consented, things would be much smoother.

The last visit from the Bureau's leaders had caused chaos, leaving even Yang Chao bewildered. This time, he was determined to set a good example, no matter what.

Unexpectedly, the very next day after Yang Chao had given his instructions, the Bureau's leaders made a surprise inspection.

A luxury car pulled up outside, and before Yang Chao could gather his wits, the visitor was already through the door. It was the same leader who had previously complained of a stomachache, only to enjoy a meal of hot pot at their establishment.

"I'm Wong Jie. I inspected this place not too long ago. Do you remember me?"

Wong Jie entered the campus and surveyed the lively scene with a furrowed brow. But then he reconsidered; these were elderly folks, yet they were bursting with vitality. It was quite admirable.

"These seniors really do have an impressive zest for life. Others might not have the same spirit."

Seeing the leader, Yang Chao's face showed a touch of embarrassment. In a subdued tone, he said, "Leader, do you have any new directives for us on this visit? Please, feel free to speak your mind. I'm open to any suggestions."

Yang Chao scratched his head, his face etched with despair. He had thought dealing with this leader would be straightforward, but now it seemed there were issues, though none were voiced directly.

Leaders, after all, tend to be forthright. If they had something to say, they'd typically say it outright, not hem and haw as they were now. This hesitancy left Yang Chao feeling somewhat embarrassed.

"I've been curious about something," the leader began. "The elderly folks working for you are brimming with vitality. I remember drinking a cup of water from you last time, and it was quite refreshing. A couple of days later, I noticed a significant boost in my health."

With that, he followed Yang Chao into the office. Once inside, with the door closed to prying ears, the leader dispensed with formalities.

"I've heard tales of extraordinary individuals around the world who claim to be immortal cultivators. I'm beginning to suspect you might be one of them. How else could that water have such an effect?"

Yang Chao took a sip of water, maintaining his composure. "You see things as you wish, Leader. If you believe it's one thing, then perhaps it is. But if there's something to know, I certainly wouldn't disclose it directly."

He understood the game. If suspicion was in the air, better to let it linger. After all, some people are intent on prying secrets from your lips, but Yang Chao was no fool.

He had never openly admitted to anyone that he was a cultivator, yet it was the truth. Cultivators are just that—known only to each other, their presence sensed by those of their kind. Others could only speculate and probe.

Yang Chao had intended to navigate this conversation carefully, but he hadn't anticipated the leader's sharp guess—that he was indeed a cultivator.
