C14 Reconciliation

Du Changsheng looked at his son with a mix of frustration and resignation, finally nodding in agreement. "Alright, if that's the case, I understand. You need to apologize to him immediately. He's willing to give me another chance and has invited me to join him in cultivation."

Once the tale of Yang Chao's words and actions had been recounted, the entire Du family was left in utter shock, their eyes brimming with disbelief.

Du Tianhao, in particular, was completely flabbergasted. Had he known the grass possessed such incredible power, he would have sought to ingratiate himself with it much sooner.

...

Inside the school, several elders were cheerfully engrossed in their smartphones, while Soong Qingfeng sat in solemn meditation.

As class monitor, he commanded the highest respect among them all, naturally assuming the role of leader in everyone's eyes.

Apart from Yang Chao, he was the one with the esteemed title.

"Hey, monitor, do you hear some noise outside?" Chen Shouye, after a spell of gaming on his phone, heard some odd sounds and looked around, puzzled.

Soong Qingfeng slowly opened his eyes, scanning the surroundings before giving a slight nod.

"Indeed, it sounds like a woman crying. Why don't you step outside and check what's happening?"

Curiosity piqued, they grouped together and headed out, only to find a person sitting there upon arrival.

Ying?

All they could see was a woman sitting on the ground, her body covered in wounds, her clothing disheveled. It was hard to believe she had ended up in such a state.

"Isn't that your ex-girlfriend? How did she end up in such a dire situation? She looks truly pitiful."

Wang Cuilian, with her sharp memory, recognized the woman instantly and shook her head, her eyes tinged with scorn.

Had this woman not approached them on her own, they might have avoided the class monitor's scolding. Now, as she approached, they couldn't help but feel a sense of disdain.

Ying, noticing that people had finally come over, spoke with a trace of sorrow, "The Du family beat me up. Could you please take me in for a while?"

"Tell Yang Chao I'm back. He loves me dearly; he'll surely come looking for me right away."

Ying's mind wandered through the memories of her time with Yang Chao, her eyes clouded with worry. He had loved her deeply once.

But she had taken him for granted, and now, as circumstances had shifted, she longed to return. Yet, she feared those people wouldn't take her back.

"You're deluding yourself if you think he'll come to see you. Our boss has written you off, even thinks you're out of your mind!" Wang Cuilian scoffed at the woman's foolish words, unable to restrain herself from hurling insults. Was she spouting such nonsense now, indulging in wishful thinking, chasing dreams?

"When you were with our principal, you got pregnant with another man's child. We haven't even settled that score, and here you are, shamelessly asking to get back together. Do you really think you deserve it? What do you think you are?"

The group erupted into a noisy quarrel. Meanwhile, Yang Chao, who was in the midst of his cultivation, heard the commotion but didn't give it much thought.

Stepping outside, he caught sight of his former lover kneeling on the ground, tears glistening in her eyes, looking utterly forlorn.

Upon seeing Yang Chao, Ying rushed to cling to his leg, her eyes brimming with desperation. "Yang Chao, I've ended things with her. I swear I'll never betray you again. My relationship with Du Tianhao was only for money, so we could have a better life together in the future."

Yang Chao retreated several steps, his expression unchanged, a flicker of skepticism in his gaze. Was she out of her mind? What was she even saying?

Was this the kind of person his predecessor had been involved with? If she was going to like someone, at least pick someone decent. It was unbelievable that she had the audacity to betray him and then show up like this, utterly shameless.

The nerve of her, he thought, his disdain growing with each passing moment.

"Enough, just stop. You and I are done, there's nothing left between us. Save your energy. Aren't you already carrying his child? How did you manage to get thrown out like this?"

Yang Chao showed no sympathy, even feeling a touch of schadenfreude as he observed his ex-lover's plight.

Yang Chao finally felt at ease, a sense of contentment he hadn't experienced in a long while washed over him, and he could barely suppress a chuckle.

He observed the woman's disheveled appearance, looking as though she'd been roughed up. Anyone else might not have predicted such an outcome.

Fate has a way of turning the tables. When Xiao Ying had driven him out before, he hadn't foreseen this twist. Now she was frantic, but what was the point of her anxiety?

"We had such a great relationship before. You loved me deeply, and we never had any conflicts. So why won't you accept me now? Did someone say something to you? My being with him was just for the money. Now I want to come back. Why won't you agree?"

Xiao Ying had agonized over this for a long time. There had to be a problem. Why wouldn't Yang Chao listen to her? He even seemed intent on driving her away.

Yang Chao had once loved her dearly, and their relationship had been strong.

"Please, I'm begging you. I'm out of options. You're all I have left. If even you won't stand by me, then I'm truly out of options. Can't you take pity on me? Let's get back together."

Ying knelt before Yang Chao, her eyes brimming with desperation. She earnestly hoped for a reconciliation.

It wasn't just Yang Chao's personal strength that mattered, but also the influence he had shown. Even the Du family had to speak to him respectfully. It was astonishing how things had changed.

After such a long time apart, Yang Chao had grown so formidable, effortlessly commanding respect from the wealthy.

"Enough," Yang Chao said firmly. "I suggest you stop wasting your breath. If you spout any more nonsense, I'll have you thrown out. Can you please just close your mouth?"

Standing there, Yang Chao regarded Ying as if she were a clown, finding the situation absurdly amusing. Some people never loved him or even respected him, and now they realized their mistake, but to what avail?

"You were discarded by Du Tianhao and then faked a pregnancy. I've known about it all along but never called you out. Don't overstep, don't be so disgraceful."

The previous owner may have been content to take the fall, but Yang Chao had no such intention.
