C1 Girlfriend's Breakup

In the principal's office of a little-known Senior University in X City, Huaxia, the door suddenly slammed open as a stunning woman strode in.

"Xiao Ying? What brings you here?" Yang Chao sat behind his desk, perusing profiles of the university's young and attractive nurses. Catching sight of his visitor, he hastily stashed the papers away.

Xiao Ying's frown deepened as she surveyed Yang Chao's spartan office, her gaze dripping with contempt. This man was nothing but a pauper, a nobody. Despite his title as principal of a Senior University, his office was embarrassingly bare, furnished with nothing more than a desk and a chair.

"I'm here to break up with you today," Xiao Ying declared, her eyes still fixed on Yang Chao with that same disdainful expression.

Yang Chao was taken aback. Break up? Why on earth did she choose now to end things?

He sighed inwardly. The poor soul who originally inhabited this body was truly unfortunate. Not only had Yang Chao taken over his life, but just as he was about to enjoy the good life with his long-time love, thanks to the activated system, she was calling it quits.

Indeed, Yang Chao had not only taken the reins of the Senior University but had also triggered the "Ultimate Cultivation School System." The system's premise was straightforward: squander resources at the Senior University to guide the elderly in their cultivation journey, thereby growing stronger.

But Xiao Ying was clueless about all this.

The body's former owner had treated her like a delicate treasure, too afraid to even touch her, lest she break or melt in his care. Yet, she had never cared for him, keeping him around merely as a backup option. Since Yang Chao's arrival and his preoccupation with leading the seniors in cultivation, he hadn't reached out to her.

And now, their first encounter in a year was to dissolve their engagement.

With these thoughts, Yang Chao snapped back to the present.

He looked at her coolly and asked, "Alright, but could you at least give me a reason?"

No sooner had Yang Chao's words fallen than another man strode into his office, exuding arrogance in his designer attire, his pale face etched with conceit.

Having been in this world for a year, Yang Chao instantly recognized the newcomer as a typical rich second-generation heir, one whose family had achieved significant success in their cultivation practices.

"See that? Tianhao is my new boyfriend, and we're getting engaged," Ying cooed, looping her arm through Du Tianhao's and nestling against him. She turned to Yang Chao with a sly smile. "Don't take it personally, Yang Chao. With the way you carry yourself, what prospects could you possibly have? I have to think about my own future."

"And you? What do you do besides swindling money from some old man?"

"I had hoped that taking over as principal of the Senior University might have spurred some ambition in you. But seeing you today, it's clear you're still the same old penniless nobody."

Du Tianhao sneered, "Ying, I can hardly believe your ex is such a deadbeat. It's hilarious. No degree, and yet he's running a Senior University? Must have conned his way into it, right?"

Ying's gaze on Yang Chao was full of scorn. "He's nothing compared to you, Tianhao. In an age where only the strong thrive, he's forever doomed to the lower rungs of society."

Yang Chao felt a surge of anger at his ex-girlfriend's words but responded coolly, "Ying, wanting to break up is one thing, but did you really need to bring your new flame just to throw insults my way?"

"I might be a societal reject, but what does that make him?"

This guy was nothing more than a rich second-generation brat, notorious for causing scandals his family had to clean up.

As Du Tianhao locked eyes with Yang Chao's unflappable stare, he felt a wave of humiliation. Was he actually being disrespected by such a nobody?

"And who are you to look down on me? Do you even know who my grandfather is? He's Du Changsheng, the wealthiest man in Eastern Sea City! You're not fit to even carry my shoes, let alone judge me!"

Ying chimed in from the sidelines, "Exactly, Yang Chao. Take a good look at yourself before you criticize others. You're in no position to speak about Tianhao. With his grandfather's influence, crushing you would take nothing more than a flick of his finger!"

Yang Chao couldn't help but snicker at their words. All this talk about someone's grandfather, as if that had anything to do with him. He wondered what they were trying to prove.

"Du Changsheng? Why does that name ring a bell?" he murmured, certain he had encountered it before.

"How dare you even utter my grandfather's name? Watch it, or he might just come over and take care of you himself!" Du Tianhao scoffed, issuing a direct threat.

Xiao Ying then stepped forward, her tone dripping with condescension. "Yang Chao, you can see for yourself. I've moved on to something better. After we part ways today, I'd appreciate it if you stopped pestering me."

Hearing this, Yang Chao rolled his eyes. The nerve of her—acting all high and mighty. He'd been in this world for a year and hadn't spared her a second glance. Where did she get the idea that he was clinging to her?

"Sister, when did you ever see me bothering you? I'm fine with breaking up. Now, if you two would kindly make yourselves scarce," he replied coolly, his mind preoccupied with more pressing matters than their theatrics.

At his response, Xiao Ying's face twisted with a strange, indignant feeling. Why was Yang Chao appearing so nonchalant? She was the one who had ended things, after all!

"Tianhao, he's obviously not over me. Have your grandfather come and sort him out!" Xiao Ying's eyes flashed dangerously as she turned to Du Tianhao with a sweet yet commanding tone.

In her mind, Yang Chao was supposed to be begging her to stay, tears and all!

Du Tianhao, bewitched by Ying's flirtatious plea, quickly responded with a grin, "Of course, of course. I'll call my grandfather right away to handle this nuisance!"

Yang Chao watched the pair in resignation. Grandfather this, grandfather that—did these two ever make it past elementary school?

"Why don't you go live with his grandfather if you're so fond of him?"
