C12 Change Your Name to Duke Lu!

Bei Jinyi smoothed her disheveled hair and implored with urgency, "Hero Lin, my Senior Sister Ding and Junior Sister Zhou are still in the clutches of this vile man. I beg of you to lend your aid."

Lin Yuanjian inquired, "Do you know their whereabouts?"

Bei Jinyi nodded eagerly, "Yes, Hero Lin, please follow me."

"Wuji, I'm entrusting this place to you," Lin Yuanjian declared before setting off with Bei Jinyi.

The Deer Staff Guest grew increasingly alarmed as the battle raged on, "This young man's internal power is scorching like fire, completely unaffected by the icy chill of my Dark Nether Divine Palm."

"Who are you, really?"

Zhang Wuji huffed, "You once injured me with your Dark Nether Divine Palm. Have you forgotten me so soon?"

"Ah, you... You're Zhang Wuji? You're still alive?" The Deer Staff Guest seemed to suddenly remember something, his face turning ashen with horror.

With a resounding thud, the Deer Staff Guest was hit by a powerful palm strike and sent flying back over ten meters, spitting blood.

Zhang Wuji dashed forward and seized him, his voice icy, "Lead me to the Emei maidens now, or your life is forfeit."

Lin Yuanjian's teachings had taken root; Zhang Wuji knew not to show mercy when it was called for.

"Stop, I'll take you to them," the Deer Staff Guest pleaded, his face a portrait of defeat, his earlier arrogance gone.

Bei Jinyi led Lin Yuanjian through several streets to a towering courtyard.

"They're in there?" Lin Yuanjian asked.

"Yes, there are dozens of them, all skilled in martial arts. You must be cau—" Before she could finish, Lin Yuanjian had vanished.

Bei Jinyi paused, then chuckled at herself. With his skill, no number of foes could harm him; her warning had been superfluous.

Shortly after, Lin Yuanjian emerged, having kicked down the courtyard door, with Ding Minjun and Zhou Zhiruo in tow.

Bei Jinyi hurried over, "Senior Sister Ding, Zhiruo!"

"They've been poisoned and are somewhat delirious," Lin Yuanjian explained as he guided Zhou Zhiruo into Bei Jinyi's arms and dropped Ding Minjun to the ground.

"Hero Lin, I can't thank you enough," Bei Jinyi expressed her gratitude.

"Don't thank me, thank Zhang Wuji," Lin Yuanjian replied, arms folded, his gaze drifting towards the street's end.

Zhang Wuji approached swiftly, dragging the Deer Staff Guest, "Zhiruo, Zhiruo!"

"Master Zhang, Senior Sister Ding and Zhiruo have been poisoned. This wretch must have the antidote," Bei Jinyi said, glaring at the disheveled Deer Staff Guest, her eyes blazing with fury.

"Where is it? The antidote—where?" Zhang Wuji demanded, gripping the Deer Staff Guest's throat.

The Deer Staff Guest gasped, his face reddening, "Cough... Take it easy... It's in my chest pocket!"

Zhang Wuji quickly retrieved the antidote, first testing it on the Deer Staff Guest. Once assured of its safety, he administered it to Zhou Zhiruo.

Bei Jinyi took another dose and gave it to Ding Minjun.

The two women gradually regained consciousness after taking the medicine.

Zhou Zhiruo let out a sharp cry, and upon seeing Zhang Wuji, she burst into tears and flung herself into his embrace.

"Zhiruo, are you alright?" Zhang Wuji asked, his voice trembling as he embraced her.

"Brother Wuji, I'm so scared." Tears of distress streamed down Zhou Zhiruo's face, deeply tugging at Zhang Wuji's heartstrings.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here for you."

Bei Jinyi was taken aback; she hadn't anticipated Zhou Zhiruo and Zhang Wuji to share such a bond.

"Little hussy," Ding Minjun muttered under her breath upon witnessing the scene. But upon noticing Lin Yuanjian, she quickly clamped her mouth shut, not daring to utter another word.

Zhou Zhiruo composed herself, her cheeks flushing as she wriggled free from Zhang Wuji's arms.

Lin Yuanjian inquired, "How did you end up in the clutches of this old scoundrel?"

Fuming, Bei Jinyi recounted, "We had just arrived in town, planning to rest overnight before continuing our journey back to Mount Emei. But before we could even reach the inn, we encountered this old lecher. He took one look at Junior Sister Zhou's beauty and made lewd comments, even attempting to assault her. We were no match for him and ended up captured. I was the only one who managed to slip away amidst the chaos. Had it not been for the timely arrival of you and Young Master Zhang, we might not have escaped his vile clutches."

"Master, what should we do with this old villain?" Zhang Wuji seethed with rage. Had he not been passing by, his dear sister Zhiruo might have suffered at the hands of the Deer Staff Guest.

Lin Yuanjian cast a glance at the shivering Deer Staff Guest and coolly said, "Handle it as you see fit."

The Deer Staff Guest, tears and snot mingling on his face, pleaded, "Young Master Zhang, spare me, please. I am an old man, and as Confucius said, 'Respect the old...' Ahh!!!"

Lin Yuanjian looked on as the Deer Staff Guest's groin appeared gruesomely mangled. It seemed he would henceforth be known as Eunuch Deer.

"Indeed, you are truly my disciple, Lin Yuanjian—decisive in action."

Zhang Wuji wiped the blood from his hands and declared icily, "Now, let's see how you'll ever harass women again!"

The Deer Staff Guest clutched his injury, rolling on the ground and howling in agony.

Bei Jinyi spat out in disgust, "Bah, you're lucky to be left breathing, you cur."

Lin Yuanjian approached and whispered, "Inform Minjun Temur to keep a low profile. But make no mistake, I will confront her myself in due time."

Sweat beaded on the Deer Staff Guest's forehead. "You... you know our princess? Who exactly are you?"

Lin Yuanjian replied with a nonchalant tone, "The Ruyang King's influence reaches far and wide. Surely the major sects have their informants. Haven't you checked?"

"Wuji, let's go." Lin Yuanjian gestured and strode toward the end of the street, with Zhang Wuji, Zhou Zhiruo, and the rest quickly falling in step behind him.

"Master, who was that 'ear' you mentioned?" Zhang Wuji's keen ears had caught the earlier comment.

After a moment's thought, Lin Yuanjian responded, "A hound of the imperial court."

The party of five reached the inn, where, fortunately, the innkeeper recognized Bei Jinyi and the others as nuns from the Emei Sect, allowing them entry. Otherwise, they would have been left to spend the night on the streets.

...

Upon returning with a cadre of experts from the Ruyang King's Mansion, Crane Brush Elder was stunned at the sight of the Deer Staff Guest's pitiful condition and exclaimed, "Senior Brother, who did this to you?"

Deer Staff Guest cast a quick glance at the Ruyang King Mansion's experts standing behind Crane Brush Elder, then bowed his head in silence.

With a broad sweep of his arm, Crane Brush Elder commanded, "Scout the area for any developments."

"Yes!" The experts promptly scattered in all directions.

Deer Staff Guest suddenly burst into loud sobs, "Oh, Junior Brother, Senior Brother fears he'll never be a man again."

Feeling a sudden chill in his groin, Crane Brush Elder demanded, "Who's responsible for this? There are few in the six great sects who could be your equal!"

With a face twisted in bitterness, Deer Staff Guest spat out, "That detestable Zhang Wuji. He survived my palm strike from years ago and has somehow cultivated formidable internal energy."

"Elder Crane, we have grim news—all our men stationed here are dead," reported the Ruyang King Mansion's experts, returning swiftly from their reconnaissance.

"What?" Deer Staff Guest shuddered, "It has to be him, it must be."

"Is there anyone else besides Zhang Wuji?" inquired Crane Brush Elder.

"There's another kid, claims to be Zhang Wuji's master. He must be the one who killed our men," Deer Staff Guest revealed.

Crane Brush Elder's expression grew stern, "We need to report back to the Princess immediately."

"If only I had foreseen this vicious encounter. I should never have coveted those three Emei maidens after defeating the rebels," Deer Staff Guest lamented with deep regret.

"You never learn, do you? Always chasing after women, and now your skills have deteriorated," Crane Brush Elder chastised with a mix of anger and disappointment. "I always said your recklessness would catch up with you."

In a woeful tone, Deer Staff Guest pleaded, "Forget that for now, Junior Brother. Can my wounds be treated?"

After a brief examination, Crane Brush Elder sighed deeply, offering a look of profound sympathy, "It's hard to say. Your prospects seem bleak. We'll return and have the Princess summon the Imperial Physician. If there's no cure, perhaps you should consider seeking employment with Eunuch Liu."
