C1 Others Practice Martial Arts While I Cultivate as an Immortal.

The night sky stretched out, vast and dark, as the cold wind cut like a knife. Snowflakes tumbled from the heavens, quickly blanketing the expansive Kunlun Mountain in white. The temperature plummeted, turning the air bitingly cold.

In a treacherous valley nestled among the mountains, a young man sat bare-skinned in the icy waters of a pond, his expression serene, seemingly impervious to the chill.

Suddenly, the youth's body shuddered, and a wave of scorching heat radiated from him, rippling out like water. The intense heat spread hundreds of meters in every direction before finally dissipating.

With a sprightly leap, the youth emerged from the now dry pond, feeling invigorated. He casually picked up his clothes from the ground and draped them over his shoulders.

The burst of heat from within him had miraculously evaporated all the water in the frigid pond.

"Master, it is only through your divine teachings that Wuji could purge the Cold Poison and cling to life. I will be eternally grateful for this debt of gratitude," the young man said, bowing respectfully to a figure lounging on a green rock, legs crossed and fast asleep.

At the sound of Zhang Wuji's voice, the man stirred awake, sitting up from the rock and stretching languidly. Remarkably, he appeared to be about the same age as Zhang Wuji.

He was Lin Yuanjian, a traveler from Earth, who had been living in this Heavenly World for several years.

Lin Yuanjian's arrival in this world was not of his own volition; the circumstances leading to it were quite complex...

As it happened, Lin Yuanjian had been incredibly unfortunate. Diagnosed with late-stage stomach, lung, and bladder cancer at eighteen, he was a rare case of a patient with multiple cancers—a virtual death sentence.

Yet, fate had other plans. On the brink of death, Lin Yuanjian encountered the fabled protagonist's cheat code—the system.

The system eradicated every cancer cell in his body, granting him a rebirth and a second chance at life.

When Lin Yuanjian awoke, he was no longer on the familiar modern Earth but in the Heavenly World of the revered author's creation.

The system tasked Lin Yuanjian with a daunting mission: to gather one hundred and eight disciples, forming the ranks of thirty-six Tianba and seventy-two Disha, to activate his one hundred and eight Spirit Apertures. He must master the "Great Dao Origin Heavenly Scripture," the mightiest cultivation technique known across all planes since antiquity, and ascend to become the most distinguished master in history. Only then would he possess the power to traverse the barriers between planes and return to Earth.

Determined to see his home once more, Lin Yuanjian embarked on his arduous journey of mentorship and discipleship.

Zhang Wuji was his first protégé, a stubborn youth who identified as a Wudang disciple and had once preferred death over joining the Bright Cult. Persuading him to accept a new master was no small feat.

Therefore, Lin Yuanjian made his way to Kunlun Mountain ahead of time, locating the cave where Zhang Wuji's fortuitous encounter took place. He extracted the Nine Yang True Scripture from the belly of a white ape and, with the system's power, refined it into its perfect form.

Indeed, the system possessed the capability to enhance and elevate martial arts. Each martial art could undergo up to three upgrades: improved, excellent, and perfect. The first two upgrades were complimentary, but perfecting a technique required the host to spend Essence Stones, the currency of the system. Lin Yuanjian's means of acquiring these stones was through discipleship; once a disciple completed their training, they could harvest another round of Essence Stones. The system itself would determine the criteria for mastery.

Lin Yuanjian generously imparted the flawless Nine Yang True Scripture to Zhang Wuji, successfully ridding him of the Cold Poison afflicting his body.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Zhang Wuji willingly accepted Lin Yuanjian as his master.

"You were meant to receive this fortune; no thanks are necessary," Lin Yuanjian said, adjusting his worn sleeves before smiling up at Zhang Wuji. "What do you plan to do next?"

Lin Yuanjian's intervention had allowed Zhang Wuji to master the Nine Yang Divine Technique ahead of schedule, leaving ample time before the six major sects' impending siege on Bright Peak.

After a moment's thought, Zhang Wuji replied, "I plan to return to Wudang Mountain to visit my grandmaster. He must be deeply concerned after all these years. Master, would you accompany me to Wudang Mountain?"

Lin Yuanjian nodded, "Certainly. I've long admired Taoist Zhang's reputation but have yet to meet him. Besides, it's only right to inform him about your new apprenticeship."

Zhang Wuji let out a sigh, "I wonder if my grandmaster will hold this against me."

"Taoist Zhang is a man of profound cultivation and broad-mindedness; he's not one to cling to narrow-minded sect prejudices. You have nothing to worry about," Lin Yuanjian reassured, giving Zhang Wuji's shoulder a firm pat. "I'm no villain; why would Taoist Zhang object?"

Zhang Wuji smiled in agreement, "You make a compelling point, Master."

"There's one more thing you must do before we leave," Lin Yuanjian added.

Puzzled, Zhang Wuji inquired, "What's that?"

"Kill Zhu Changling," Lin Yuanjian stated.

Startled, Zhang Wuji asked, "Why must I kill him?"

Lin Yuanjian sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration. This boy was as compassionate as his father, Zhang Cuishan; it was time for some tough love.

"He tried to deceive you into taking him to Ice and Fire Island to endanger your foster father, nearly causing your death in that abyss. How can you not resent him?"

Memories of Zhu Jiuzhen's deceitful flattery and Zhu Changling's insincere demeanor sent a cold shiver through Zhang Wuji. Raised on Ice and Fire Island, he was unaccustomed to such treachery. It was impossible for him not to feel some enmity toward Zhu Changling.

Yet, his upbringing also fostered his gentle and hesitant nature.

"Shouldn't one be merciful when possible? If I hadn't fallen, I wouldn't have met you, Master, and I might have soon succumbed to the Cold Poison," he reasoned.

"You're considering mercy for a man who sought your harm!" Lin Yuanjian grew agitated. "Such misplaced compassion! Have you not heard the saying 'spare the tiger, and it will return to the mountain, bringing endless woes'? If you spare him today, he may seek to harm you again tomorrow. And if not you, then others. By sparing him, you could cause harm to many more. If you let him go, their blood is on your hands!"

Chastened, Zhang Wuji fell silent, inwardly grumbling, "He's nearly my age, yet he scolds like an old man." Still, he kept these thoughts to himself—Lin Yuanjian was, after all, his master.

With a huff, Lin Yuanjian pressed, "Now you tell me, does he deserve to die?"

Zhang Wuji declared, "They deserve death."

With a swift wave of his hand, Lin Yuanjian commanded, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's move."

The two strode toward the cave entrance. Lin Yuanjian nonchalantly kicked at the ground, and with a thunderous boom, the massive rock wall before them crumbled. Dense stones hurtled out like a hailstorm, and the once narrow entrance now yawned wide open.

Zhang Wuji watched, wide-eyed and speechless, from behind. Lin Yuanjian's kick, seemingly effortless, had unleashed a fearsome power.

He had once taken pride in mastering the Nine Yang True Scripture, but now, in the shadow of his master, he felt his accomplishment paled in comparison.

He suddenly recalled Lin Yuanjian's words —

"Nine Yang True Scripture? Such rudimentary skills. I mastered it with a mere flip through the book."

Indeed, Lin Yuanjian was that formidable. With the Primordial Heaven Scroll as his cornerstone, mastering a basic martial art like the Nine Yang True Scripture was child's play.

Now, having taken on his first disciple, he had opened one Spirit Aperture, though it remained somewhat constricted. By the time Zhang Wuji completed his training, it would be fully unobstructed.

The Primordial Heaven Scroll was an extraordinary cultivation method, transcending the norms of the era. Lin Yuanjian's cultivation journey was distinct, and his approach to enhancing his power was truly innovative.

Put simply, while others trained in martial arts, he pursued the path of immortality. While others toiled daily in their practice, he simply needed to take on disciples to sequentially unlock Spirit Apertures.

A Spirit Aperture is a conduit between the body and the cosmos, free from the confines of solitary cultivation and in tune with the universe. Each unlocked Spirit Aperture promised staggering progress, a unique aspect of Lin Yuanjian's spiritual journey.

Currently at the pinnacle of the Foundation Stage, he was a mere step from advancing to the Core Formation Stage.

With each Spirit Aperture he opened, Lin Yuanjian gained insight into a different Dao. The first aperture he unlocked was aligned with the foundational Body Cultivation Dao, indicating his deep roots and exceptional understanding in this realm.

Lin Yuanjian was eager to accept more disciples, but not just anyone would do. Only those aligned with the 36 Heavenly Stars or the 72 Earthly Fiends were eligible.

This limitation thwarted Lin Yuanjian's hope of casually gathering enough disciples to reach the auspicious number of 108. It was uncertain when those destined would emerge. For now, the only "Heavenly Ingenious Star" he had encountered was Zhang Wuji.
