C11 Devil Fruit
"Die!"
As they were on the verge of impact, Kasha leaped into action. A vicious energy burst forth from him as he brought his greatsword down on the Australovenator's head.
The Australovenator let out a furious roar, its massive skull colliding with the blade.
Crash!
The greatsword shattered, leaving a mere 30-centimeter-long scratch on the Australovenator's head, without drawing a drop of blood.
The beast's head then slammed into Kasha, his eyes bulging in shock.
"Ugh..."
He was hurled backward, crashing violently into a large tree.
Thud!
He slid down the trunk, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Cough... Cough..."
Blood spewed from his mouth as Kasha felt his insides shatter, his ribs snapping like twigs.
"Captain..."
Pirates on the hillside cried out in terror.
"How can this be? The captain's been taken down just like that?"
"What do we do now..."
"There's more of us, surely we can take it down."
"Attack... Save the captain!"
Exchanging determined glances, the pirates charged at the Australovenator with snarling faces and raised blades.
The Australovenator eyed them mockingly. As they closed in, it spun around.
Its colossal tail whipped through the air with a whoosh, striking them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Screams of agony..."
"Ugh... Ugh..."
The pirates were sent flying, even faster than their initial charge. Their chests caved in, blood spraying wildly.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
They hit the ground hard, gasping for air, their bodies convulsing.
Gaimon, who had hung back, watched in horror as his crewmates were slaughtered like chickens by the dinosaur.
"Who... are you?!"
Kasha, clinging to life, glared at Esaki from the ground, his eyes wide and teeth stained with blood.
"Me?" Esaki pointed to himself, a smile playing on his lips.
"Pirate Hunter, codename: Summoner!"
"Pirate Hunter... Summoner... Hahaha..."
Kasha's words turned into a crazed laughter as he continued to cough up blood.
Seconds ticked by before his laughter ceased, and his head hung low.
Minutes passed.
"A treasure, huh?"
Esaki cradled a parchment treasure map, a light chuckle escaping him.
Next to him stood a petrified Gaimon, shivering uncontrollably, his head bowed, too frightened to meet Esaki's gaze or that of the 'demonic' Australovenator.
"Let's go check if it's an actual treasure."
He remembered the treasure of Treasure Island in the anime was a hoax, but he reasoned there had to be something of value on the island; otherwise, why would the animals here undergo such bizarre mutations?
They set off toward the island's central and largest mountain.
The mountain wasn't particularly tall, just over a hundred meters, with ancient trees densely packed on its slopes, each as wide as a person and towering.
Curious creatures watched them from a safe distance, too intimidated to come closer, especially with the imposing presence of the Australovenator.
Before long, they reached the summit.
It was a barren peak, save for a half-meter-tall brown wooden chest sitting squarely in the center, its surface blanketed with moss and surrounded by tufts of grass.
Esaki strode forward and pried the chest open.
Crack!
The lock snapped, the chest swung open, and a musty odor wafted out.
The contents were now in full view.
A gleaming layer of gold coins filled the bottom of the chest, and on top of them rested two boxes, one large, one small, nestled together.
"This... couldn't possibly be a Devil Fruit, could it?"
He eyed the larger box, murmuring to himself.
In the anime, a box of that size typically contained a Devil Fruit.
He lifted it and flipped the lid open.
