C13 He Saw Injustice!
Upon hearing Chen Fann's voice, the trio of young men were initially taken aback, then swiftly turned with fierce glares.
"Kid! Mind your own business, or you won't even know what hit you," one of the young men snarled menacingly.
Noticing Chen Fann's youthful appearance, they mistook him for an impulsive youngster, eager to jump into the fray.
In Miracle Land, countless such hotheaded youths met their end each year, and it looked like today would claim another.
Fearlessness wasn't a crime, but ignorance was inexcusable.
Today's incident, if word got out, would be a catastrophic blow to the reputations of the three young cultivators.
They had to nip this threat in the bud, regarding Chen Fann as if he were already a goner.
Chen Fann was well aware of the murderous intent emanating from the trio. Having just achieved a breakthrough, he was keen to test his newfound strength.
The three adversaries before him were roughly at the Qi Condensation Layer Three, the same level he had been before his advancement.
The young men couldn't discern Chen Fann's cultivation level, but his youth dispelled their fears.
Behind them, the female cultivator continued her frantic pleas, clearly doubting Chen Fann's ability to rescue her.
"Looking for trouble, kid?"
One man, unable to suppress his urge to kill, lunged prematurely.
His palm, charged with potent spiritual energy, struck out at Chen Fann, who remained stoic. To the onlookers, he was as good as dead.
Chen Fann's expression was serene, his dark eyes unfathomable, betraying no hint of concern for the impending blow.
"An ignorant fool!"
The powerful gust from the man's palm seemed poised to burst Chen Fann's head open like a melon.
But Chen Fann was quick to act.
His Myriad Poisonous Hand countered, striking the attacker with a palm surrounded by ominous, black spiritual energy.
The assailant, overconfident, underestimated the strike.
Tragedy struck. As their palms collided, Chen Fann stood firm while the young man was blasted backward, his arm blackened as if dipped in ink.
"Ah, my hand!"
The young man's agonized screams echoed, filled with a despair that tightened the hearts of those who heard.
The remaining two, realizing Chen Fann was a formidable opponent, attacked in unison.
"Hmph, digging your own graves!"
Chen Fann scoffed and launched his own assault.
Fear crept into their hearts as they saw Chen Fann's aggressive stance, draining them of the will to fight. The outcome was a foregone conclusion.
Chen Fann showed no mercy, relentlessly pursuing the pair with his fearsome Myriad Poisonous Hand.
Their courage shattered, they couldn't believe their misfortune at encountering such a formidable youth in this desolate wilderness.
As the two fled in haste, Chen Fann decided not to pursue further. Instead, he turned to approach the poisoned man slumped on the ground.
"Don't, stay away from me!"
As the poisoned man caught sight of Chen Fann approaching at a leisurely pace, panic seized him, and he couldn't help but cry out in terror.
"Do you actually want to kill me?"
A mischievous grin spread across Chen Fann's face, but to the poisoned man, it was as if he was staring into the grin of the Grim Reaper himself.
"No, no, I was blind to oppose you. Please, I beg you, spare my life!"
The man's will to survive ignited fiercely. He was now frantically bowing and scraping before Chen Fann, pleading for mercy.
"Hehe, too late," Chen Fann uttered.
With those words, his left hand found its way to the man's crown. The Devouring Rune activated in an instant, pulling the man's spiritual energy into Chen Fann's body. Filtered through the Taotie within his dantian, the energy was purified and fully assimilated by Chen Fann.
In moments, the poisoned man was drained to a husk, his body reduced to a pile of dry bones.
"Ah!"
The female cultivator, witnessing Chen Fann's eerie spell, let out a terrified shriek.
Chen Fann felt as though he was surrounded by the incessant quacking of five hundred ducks, a sensation that irked him to no end.
This woman is insufferably loud, he thought with irritation, casting a frosty look her way.
"Ah!"
The intensity of Chen Fann's murderous gaze only heightened the female cultivator's fear, prompting another scream from her.
"Silence! Keep it down!" Chen Fann snapped, his patience wearing thin. Why did she act as though he was about to kill her after he had just saved her?
Her screams ceased abruptly, the woman now petrified by the thought of being desiccated by this enigmatic and formidable man.
Rumors had circulated throughout Miracle Land of Devil Cultivators who bolstered their power by absorbing the spiritual energy of others. She never imagined she'd actually encounter one. The female cultivator shuddered at the thought.
If Taotie were aware of her current musings, he'd be livid enough to devour her on the spot.
To equate the esteemed offspring of dragons with those vile Devil Cultivators was nothing short of sacrilege to the Dragon Clan and an affront to the Devouring Rune!
"Are you a member of the Blackheaven Sect?" Chen Fann inquired, his tone even.
"Yes," the female cultivator replied, nodding with a fragile and pitiable look that could stir compassion in anyone.
But Chen Fann was not in the mood for sympathy. "And these three young cultivators, what is their relation to you?"
At his question, the woman's eyes welled up, but Chen Fann quickly gestured for her to hold back her tears and continue.
"They were my close friends within the Blackheaven Sect. I saw them as brothers, yet they..." Her voice trailed off, the hurt evident in her reddened eyes.
Chen Fann had no interest in delving into such personal affairs.
He sifted through the remains of the poisoned man but found nothing of value.
Chen Fann then casually beckoned the woman to accompany him back to the sect.
The revelation that Chen Fann was also from the Blackheaven Sect left the woman utterly astonished. When had the sect come to possess such dark and domineering techniques?
To witness a person being drained of life and turned into a skeletal heap was more than most could bear. She was convinced that such a method defied the sacred tenets of cultivation and would surely invite divine retribution.
"Just act as if you've never seen me today, and especially forget what I've done. Understand?" Chen Fann's piercing gaze bore into her, filling her with a chilling fear that seemed to transport her to the depths of hell, an unspeakable dread welling up within her.
"Alright, fine."
The woman sensed that if she hesitated any longer, she would soon be nothing more than a new pile of bones.
With the woman's agreement, Chen Fann found no reason to press further. Upon their arrival at the sect, they quickly went their separate ways.
