C4 One Wave Had Not Been Settled yet Another Wave Arose
Thankfully, his mother was just short of breath and hadn't lost consciousness. She willingly took the pill he offered her. Almost immediately after swallowing it, she began to cough violently, which terrified Yun Buhui. He was unsure if the pill was the right treatment and frantically patted her back to help.
In just a moment, his mother spat out a mouthful of black, foul-smelling phlegm. She gasped for air, exclaiming, "I was suffocating!" Seeing his mother recover so quickly, Yun Buhui couldn't help but let tears of relief flood his eyes.
"Mom, are you okay now?"
"I'm fine, I'm really fine. I feel so relieved. It's as if all my old ailments have been healed!"
Dr. Hu watched in utter disbelief. "How is this possible? What did you give her? How could she get better so suddenly? It can't be, it just can't!"
The Yun family remained silent, not even glancing his way in response to his incredulous questions.
"Whether your mother is better or not, I must take that pig. It's what I'm owed, my fee for the medicine," Dr. Hu declared, realizing his presence was no longer of any consequence. He turned and left, and soon after, the sound of a pig squealing could be heard outside. The Yun family watched as Dr. Hu forcibly took away their only old sow.
"Dad, Mom, it's okay. Even without the sow, I can still ensure the piglets survive," Yun Buhui gently consoled his tearful parents before stepping outside. He sat on the wall of his pigpen, his heart heavy with sorrow as he watched the little piglets cry out incessantly.
Their sole source of income was now gone, all because of Dr. Hu. But then again, they did owe him money. Yun Buhui sat quietly, gazing at the late sky, where he could faintly make out a few birds gliding by. Their calls lingered in the air long after they had passed.
Yun Buhui wore a bitter smile. How was he to navigate the days ahead? And the idea of keeping the little piglets alive seemed impossible. He was no deity. Without the sow and lacking the funds for milk powder, how could he ensure the survival of these ten little ones?
While sitting there with a wry smile, he absentmindedly pulled out the Spirit Storage Bottle from his pocket. He toyed with it, only to notice an extra two drops of liquid inside. Curious, he tipped the bottle to pour some out and examine the mysterious fluid.
The liquid was surprisingly viscous, oozing out slowly. As he continued to tilt the bottle, a drop of Spirit Liquid escaped and landed squarely in the pig trough below the wall.
In that instant, Yun Buhui was enveloped by a pleasant fragrance. Before he could even process the event, the dozen piglets, lured by the scent, scurried over and eagerly lapped up the liquid. In just a moment, the trough was licked clean by the voracious little pigs.
Yun Buhui watched, eyes wide with wonder and a glimmer of hope. What changes might occur in them now? The once coarse piglets now seemed to sport smoother coats, and they even appeared to have grown a bit.
A small smile crept onto his lips. In that moment, he fully grasped that his greatest opportunity lay in the Almighty Immortal Cultivation System. A single pill had revived his mother, and now this small jade bottle had produced Spirit Liquid that transformed the piglets into such sleek and robust creatures.
If he were to raise pigs with this method, he couldn't predict the final outcome, but he had faith it would be favorable. No grain? No problem. He had the Spirit Liquid. Perhaps in the future, he might even establish his own farm with this liquid as his ace. He was convinced that he would soon shed the label of poverty.
Filled with boundless determination and hope for what lay ahead, Yun Buhui's heart soared with beautiful aspirations. Yet, just as he was basking in this newfound optimism, his phone rang. Picking it up, he glanced at the screen and his brow furrowed ever so slightly.
After graduating from high school, Chu Yuvlin from the Chu family had sent a matchmaker to propose marrying his daughter to me. My parents, Yun Buhui's, were over the moon. Considering our financial situation, it was a wonder any family would agree to such a match. So when Chu Yuvlin took the initiative, it was nothing short of a miracle for the Yun family.
Though I, Yun Buhui, was somewhat weary of this arranged marriage, I believed that the luxury of choosing one's spouse was reserved for the wealthy. For a poor family like mine, it was a blessing just to have someone willing to marry their daughter to you. Without much thought, my parents settled the matter, and suddenly, I had a fiancée.
Despite the engagement, I never felt a genuine connection with the Chu family. Chu Yuvlin always seemed to lord over us, as if he were bestowing charity. This attitude only fueled my distaste for the Chu family. So when Chu Yuvlin unexpectedly called me, it caught me off guard.
"Buhui," he said, "I agreed to this marriage because I saw you as an educated man. Yet, it's been over a year since you returned home, and there's been no improvement in your family's situation. I must admit, I'm quite disappointed. These days, every girl comes with a dowry. It wouldn't be right if I didn't ask for something in return."
He continued, "Moreover, suitors have been practically breaking down my door to propose to my daughter. But since our families made a prior agreement, I can't just ignore it. So here's the deal: if you can provide a betrothal gift of 50,000 yuan within three days, the marriage stands. Fail to do so, and I can't promise to keep my word."
Upon hearing this, I, Yun Buhui, wanted nothing more than to slam down the phone. But I had been raised better than that. Despite my reluctance, I had no choice but to grit my teeth and bear it.
